Matthew Simmons has been saying the spill is worse than anyone admits for weeks, and he hasn't been wrong yet.

What does that even mean, "he hasn't been wrong yet"?

Contrast this with the story that they can't find any oil to skim.

"Blam, I had absolutely no idea of such a forest under the sound."

Now you do.

Have fun at that absolutely beautiful beach.

No worries folks,, we have a low pressure headed that way that should turn into a hurricane and wipe things clean.

"Yes, but, at how many leagues?"

Before you can calculate the leagues you must first count up the cables. Any remainder (or fraction thereof) must be coverted to rods. Any ells that are left over can be discarded as they are not important.

This ole Earth has recovered from much worse and Mother Nature recovers how she will.

She's a pretty resilient old gal, ain't she?

There is too much oil underground, and we need to help it get out.

Yeah, we need lots of field delineation and production wells!

I knew this clown was a nut the first time he opened his mouth.

He’s getting nuttier by the minute.

Yup -- nuttier than sack of squirrel droppings. It is obvious from the opening paragraphs about the BOP being blown off the well when it is obvious it is still sitting on the sea floor. Couple that bit of nonsense with the lack of data on his ruptured sea floor miles away from the well site and it is easy to conclude his genetic background includes somebody in oil...snake oil, that is!

Subthread from Thurs The Oil Drum:

********************************EXCERPT******************************************

Feel free to copy and past this letter and send it to any news outlet. I sent it to about 1500 emails yesterday, and was able to read most of it on Washington Journal this morning on Cspan. Hopefully it will be a small piece of the truth coming out.

To whom it may concern,

Matthew R. Simmons - Chairman Emeritus of Simmons & Company International was on the Dylan Ratigan show on MSNBC on July 15th making some VERY inflammatory claims about a BP cover up, and possible government cover-up of the true scope of the oil disaster. He just was on [link to kingworldnews.com] , and restated his claims in more detail.

He is calling for "the arrest of BP executives", and stating that there is "a hole spewing 120,000 barrels of oil a day where the 1st BOP use to be". This man is not a fringe character and has been on many main stream media shows during the disaster. His Wikipedia page shows hes a member of the Council On Foreign Relations. Plain and simple he is exposing a massive cover-up by BP, and possibly the government about the real extent of this disaster, or fear mongering to further his/others agenda while calling for the "arrest" of BP executives. The truth is somewhere out there.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Stories and interviews without softballs are crucial to the security and psychology of the United States, his claims need to be proven or disproven.

Sincerely,

He must be extremly worried about potential investment losses. He watches as the global warming freak show slowly is put to an end. He watches as the US Congress cannot enact a Carbon Trading scheme into law.
The surface of the gulf continues to display a lack of oil. No major oil is now reaching any coastal area. The panic is over. The tropical storm will further downgrade the existing finer plumes of broken down oil, and the microbs are eating away at what remains at all depths.
The guy is going to go bezerk.
As far as his membership in the CFR. He probably is some useful little idiot. Perhaps instructed to blow smoke screens for some specific reason. Not clear as of yet.

I believe Simmons. The desperate way BP and the feds have been trying to cover this up, it has to be much, much worse than we`re being led to believe. There may be some aquatic life still left in the Gulf, but it won`t last much longer. It`s days are numbered. And when the relief wells fail and the oil gets into the Atlantic,,,well. Not far-fetched to expect to see oil in the Potomac river.

And this Sherrod thing came along at a good time for BP and Capt. Kickass. Now the media is obsessed with that and could`nt care less about the greatest ecological disaster in our lifetimes.
