Detroit has a Police Dept?
They would like to think so, but as of lately its more like a large street gang with badges and powers of arrest...
The interim chief looks like the Chinese dude from 2 Live Crew.
We had a guy like this in Pittsburgh. His name was Joe Moses. He was the head of the road and parks maintenance department for Allegheny County. A colorful guy, he liked to cruise around in Humvees years before it was fashionable, and he wore this ridiculous white helmet with four Generals stars painted on it.
That was, he did until the crash of US Air flight 427 in 1994. Joe showed up in full General’s regalia with his guys in order to assist with the rescue operation. Problem is, he allowed himself to be filmed and interviewed by national TV networks. The next day everyone in America was asking “Who is this clown who thinks that he’s General Patton?” All of the extra attention focused on him resulted in a reporter uncovering his involvement in a drainage projects kickback scheme. Joe had to resign. If you’ve got a cushy local government job the best advice is to stay the heck off of television.
Detroit should install the National Guard as its police department. It’s a hell hole made up of rioters and gangs.
LOL!
Following her death, Bing banned reality television crews from tagging along with police units, and chided Evans for not telling him about the practice of allowing TV cameramen to join officers on raids. Thanks The Magical Mischief Tour.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
I thought that was a film crew from “The First 48”. The Detroit PD has been featured on that show for years-long before Evans became chief. So Evans is the fall guy because this time it went wrong. There was also something about his involvement with some woman who was arrested twice for pulling a gun in a bar, according to Scott Lewis of Channel 7.
Will the last person to leave Detroit please close the door....if its still on its hinges, that is.
Honestly, it would be safer to ship out to Iraq than try to police Detroit. I was just there a couple of days ago, drove through the old haunts I knew as a kid. All I can say is I was so glad my Indiana permit allows me to carry in Michigan.
