The cult of the child - mushy sentimentalism - falls under both control and jealousy. Think about it this way whenever the Left wants to “help” the “downtrodden” it is not because they actually want to help.
They think the “downtrodden” can only be “helped” if they follow the commands of the Lefties (think: how does the Left respond to a black person in a bad situation if that person is conservative vs. how they respond if it is a liberal? That’s control. We will help you if you agree with us.
The method of helping - the way they assuage their mushy sentimentalism - is through jealousy. Find the “oppresor” and guilt / tax / change the law on them until they give to the oppressed. That’s pure jealousy of the success of the “non-downtrodden”.
Don’t fall for the belief that they are actually sentimental. They aren’t.
