What non-Catholics say about the Church is of no concern to me. Our Church was founded by the apostle Peter, under the aegis of God. Mere words, from humans, will never remotely contend with God's will.
What does bother me is the habit of many Catholics have of denying that we had, and have, bad members in our Church.
Mel Gibson may be exhibiting unsavory behavior, yet he does not do so in order to harm the Church.
At the other end of the spectrum, sexual predators masquerading as priests, nuns, or pious laics, are using their positions to harm the Church.
We cannot mend ourselves until we admit we are broken.
Who is worse? Gibson or Peter, who thrice turned is back on Jesus?
Mel Gibson is not a catholic.
He isn’t a “bad” member of the Church.
He isn’t a member of the Church at all.
That’s what happens when you belong to a schism.
You repudiate your membership.
Amen.
>>Mel Gibson is a Catholic.<<
A Roman Catholic?
Nope, sorry. He isn’t.
He is part of an independent Catholic Church. They are not the same kind of “Catholic” as I am. They don’t believe in B16. I do and I suspect you do too.
Amen.
