The USDA's rural development director for Georgia says she was forced out of her federally appointed job after a "snippet" of a speech she gave in March appeared to show her admission to only half-heartedly aiding a struggling white farmer because of his race.
But in a phone interview from her home in Albany early Tuesday morning, Shirley Sherrod told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that the two-minute, 38-second video posted online Monday by biggovernment.com and reported on by FoxNews.com and the AJC completely misconstrued the message she was trying to convey.
Sherrod, 62, insisted her statements in the video were not racist.
"For Fox to take a spin on this like they have done, and know its not the truth
its very upsetting," she said.

The context is that she shirked her responsibility, allowed her own prejudices to influence her conduct, and only belatedly helps the person. And she is to be given a pass?
No, let the blacks feel the sting of being called racists too.
Yes they were. Racists rarely seem to realize they are racists apparently.
That was a typo. Jump to conclusions much?
Considering the context of your post and FIX versus FOX news, looks to me like I was stating the obvious.
Complaining about a 24 year old tape? Same complaints I see on the left web sites this morning. They (and you) don’t want to think that this means the NAACP has had racist speakers saying racist things as long as 24 years ago and it is NOT blowback on racism they perceive being directed at Obama....
“I read the entire article and agree that the salient point that was left out was the way she overcame her prejudice and ended up working with the guy for 2 years to help him out of his trouble, and that she ended up being friends with the farmer and his wife.”
Did you also notice that the Farmer is now DEAD and so obviously there is NOBODY to corraborate her story is there. Funny she left out how she went to the farm and helped him milk the cows, feed the chickens, plow, cut the hay, and made him breakfast in bed while doing his wash.... seeing as how there is nobody around to challenge her version....is there...
I don't know how you get to the point where I am claiming it doesn't mean the NAACP was racist years ago. I am merely stating that it's wrong to omit that fact from the current reports.
I know that. I was pointing out the liberal/progressive template to automatically place the blame. If it were not for FOX, it would only have been a bogosphere story.
I know racism when I see it. And in that 2 1/2 minute speech clip, I saw it. I don’t care what color you are, I know it when I see it.
Didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday.
No, you see, that’s where you’re wrong. Once you go through re-education camp you will see it more clearly, trust me, it wasn’t racism ...
