Our side still does a piss poor job at explaining and not coming off sounding like we’re callous...I watched the MSM 6:30 news last night and nearly choked...it’s been a while since I watched. The sound bytes are ridiculous. We have to do a much better job or we’ll be the same republicans who want to starve the old people and babies.
Wanna know why NV’s leaning towards Reid now? Wanna know why in the last couple weeks the polls have suddenly shifted to the dems, especially in the last week? This is it. People out there are raving pissed or confused as hell over the fact that the GOP is taking a hardline stand against this at this time. The stupidity is staggering.
You think the media is going to play any effective sound bites of GOP congress members? I agree the Repubs need to better handle the media. If that means coming out and making one short, very effective sentence, then that is what they should do. If a House leader speaks for 2 minutes, the media will pull the least beneficial sound bite to fit their agenda, if they even get their own words in the story at all.

I agree the Republicans could do a better job but it takes two to tango. By that I mean they need a cooperative and unbiased media. Right, lots of luck on that!
The media elected Obama, period! The Democrats and the media spent the entire eight years of the Bush administration bashing him and the Republicans. Remember the Republican Culture of Corruption? We later learned who the real corrupt party is! The media even ridiculed Bush the day of the 9/11 attack - saying that when he was informed of the attack in a classroom in Florida that he looked like a deer in the headlights. When returning to Washington there was information that the White House and Air Force One were targets so the Secret Service and the military commanded a circuitous route back to Washington with a stop at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. The media called this cowardly and said Bush was a coward.
That set the stage early on and they never let up for eight years.
On the other hand they praised Obama, fended off any questions about his qualifications and eligibility and called those who did question them racists and right wing nuts. They never called him on all the lies he told in the campaign, then or now, and basically acted as part of his campaign. To get any coverage at all the Republicans had to buy millions of dollars of time from those same media. That is the crux of Campaign Finance Reform - to silence all opposition to the Democrats.
Why did McCain sponsor it and Bush sign it? That is a mystery to me but the media and the Democrats were calling all who didn't support it in the pockets of K Street and Big Business.
Bush and his people did not do a good job defending against that onslaught and any attempts they made could only be found on Fox News. The same thing is happening now. What you see are edited presentations by the media which favor the Democrats and make the Republicans look bad.
Republicans are not as dumb as they appear but they are having to speak through the distorted media. Was what Michael Steele said as bad as it has been portrayed? Not to me. Yet, he was brow beaten by bad press into apologizing. The same thing happened to trent Lott back in the nineties while Sheets Byrd was whitewashed.
Examples abound so give the Republicans a little slack and stop piling on along with the media.
