She was telling the audience to work for the government and they won’t get fired. But something tells me her resignation wasn’t voluntary.

What I recall hearing on the video was her talking about federal employees not being subject to layoffs, and she does have a point here. When was the last time you heard of layoffs of civil-service federal employees?

A layoff in the federal government is called a REDUCTION IN FORCE or a RIF.

They happen. During a period when USPS was paying over $120,000,000,000 too much to OPM for current and future retiree benefits, we had SEVERAL RIFS in the USPS and I saw hundreds of people lose their jobs and get tossed on the street.

They are a bit more common in DOD where missions may change and bases may close ~ overnight!

You’re correct, it was layoffs she was talking about. But some government workers I’ve encountered definitely deserved to be fired but never will be.
