Biden Fined $219K For Campaign Violations
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | July 19, 2010 | Paul Cooper

Here's the bad news: our country is in a financial hurt box.  Here's the worse news: the people with all the financial answers are being fined almost a quarter of a million bucks in handling their own money.  Are you sure you want these guys to have more of your money?

This weekend an audit by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) was released showing major financial errors and money mishandling by the 2008 Joe Biden Presidential campaign.  It seems Joe and his folks were sloppy with bookkeeping and took excessive and inappropriate contributions.  The money handling was so bad that the Biden campaign has been fined $219,ooo.  Yes, the second most powerful man in the world, the guy who wants to handle your checkbook couldn't manage his own.

My assistant managing editor Michael van der Galien forwarded me a comment of someone “spitting” on him.

Pretty hefty title you gave him. Means "blogpimp" though.

I spat upon him. He's a post-and-run pimp who writes
about himself in the third person on his profile page.

I shall continue to spit upon him as long as he continues
to use FR as a business platform for blogpimping. And to quote you:

SUCK ON THAT, LOSER.

What’s a “real FReeper”? If it’s someone like 50mm and Gunner then I don’t want to be a “real FReeper.”

I’m not asking for any “red carpet treatment” (what might that actually entail?) I’ve stated that I certainly appreciate the vast numbers of thoughtful and passionate Freepers out there who visit our site and will continue to do so.

But yes, FreeRepublic is often a very toxic environment because people like 50mm and Gunner are more prominent than the more quiet, friendly people. That’s an honest critique and you can take it or leave it — it’s not a personal attack on FR, just a call for it to be a better, more welcoming environment. I have female editors who often don’t feel comfortable posting at FR because of some of the stuff they see.

After reading through your MySpace blog last night I was under the impression that all of your editors were female. Some were just more girly than others actually to the point of being touchy feely liberals.

If you and your soft, fat and pink minions cannot handle the heat y'all should not have gone into the rough and tumble world of blogging (LOL!) and stuck to your Easy Bake Ovens and the fellers to their anatomically correct GI Joe action figures.

It appears you and your editors want to be a part of the Conservative revolution to take this country back but if you want to be effective you need to take off your aprons and get ready to get your hands dirty. In other words wimpy little chicks are not needed in this war we need tough right minded individuals who will not run when the first community activist "spits" in their direction.

Now, take the first step in being a man and apologize to Jim Robinson and about 100,000 FReepers.

I haven’t insulted Jim Robinson and the vast majority of FReepers. My words are quite clearly the opposite. You’re the one who’s the embarrassment to the Conservative Movement and to FreeRepublic and should be apologizing for your behavior. You’re the one who’s trying to sabotage David Horowitz and the Freedom Center — something only leftists and Islamists do — instead of spending your time fighting the Left and Islam. You’re the one who got bored and picked a fight with fellow patriots for no reason. Get your priorities straight, sir.

Typical knee jerk reaction. It is clear you simply skimmed the post and pulled the blog pimp weapon of calling me a leftist and Islamist.

If you were an eight year old you should be embarrassed by your post. As an “editor” you should hang your head in shame. You are proof that even a crack head on a coffee break can be a blogger. All you need is ten bucks for an ISP, a TRS-80 and to be unemployable.

You are no conservative because if you were one you would simply apologize and grow up rather than digging yourself a pit so deep you will never escape from it.

I thought we were finished, yet here you are bad-mouthing me behind my back. What's up with that? Take the hint from the Admin Mod, nOOb.

But yes, FreeRepublic is often a very toxic environment

No, it's not. It's a site for spirited debate and exchange of ideas. It's not a site for the thin-skinned whose feelings are easily hurt. Most importantly, it's not a route-stop where every drive-by blogger can toss his latest blog excerpt out the window onto the lawn and drive on.

I’ve stated that I certainly appreciate the vast numbers of thoughtful and passionate Freepers out there who visit our site and will continue to do so.

Amazing that Freud guy, huh?

...just a call for it to be a better, more welcoming environment.

I think we have over a hundred thousand FReepers who would disagree with that. Maybe Free Republic is too welcoming. How many members does your blog have? LOL

You’re the one who’s trying to sabotage David Horowitz

How is Eaker doing this sabotaging exactly?

By calling a pimp a pimp? By not showing you the respect you feel entitled to?

You, sir, are committing the only sabotage I can see.
By needlessly excerpting in order to piggyback on the
success of FR you have caused what may be a valid source
of information (I wouldn't know) to be cast into the category
of lame-arse blogs who abuse FR to get blog hits.

Yep. You have done more damage to your blog than Eaker could.

Well done.

(Jeannie, check out post #63)

I am a woman who has been on this site since 2001. Not once have I ever felt uncomfortable posting or reading anything on here - in fact, I trust Freepers enough to:

Go all by myself, to last years South Florida Freeper convention where I stayed an entire weekend surrounded by Freepers I’d never met in person but who have become some of my closest real life friends.

I chaired FR’s Tea Party Convention last September in Washington, DC where I met hundreds of fantastic people who never once gave me any reason to feel uncomfortable about being around them. While my husband was with me, if he had not been unable to attend I would have gone by myself, and would not worried about my safety or “delicate” sensibilities being harmed. My co-chair is an over 60 women who weighs all of 100lbs soaking wet. She was not scared either!

In fact, I’m traveling by myself up to DC for Beck’s event on August 28 and meeting up with friends I met on this very site. I’m more worried about the bums on the Mall.

I traveled all over Florida attending Tea Parties and hosting candidate/Free Republic booths where each time I get to meet Freepers from all over. Haven’t been scared at a single one.

I even get together with a group of Freepers to go shooting at a local range with real life gun and real life bullets. Haven’t been worried at all.

There are thousands of women who daily post and read comments made on this site. Rarely does one feel the need to complain or leave because they can’t handle what is being said.

Having a good deal of experience with this Free Republic and the people on it, I can say without a doubt the problem isn’t Freepers.

Maybe the women editors you are working with would be better suited posting and reading comments made over at a Lifetime Channel blog.

This response to me is a sexist, anti-woman reply and an example of what my editors have found insulting:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2555404/posts?page=64#64

The sentiment that women are weak and unable to handle “tough talk” is misogynistic.

You’re right that the vast majority of freepers are smart, thoughtful, patriotic Americans. (And I’ve never implied otherwise.) But surely you’ll admit that a vocal minority make hateful and often sexist comments like the one above. To say that every single person on Free Republic is a saint simply isn’t true.

I appreciate that you admit the comment you reference is no indicative of this site, yet....

One comment out of hundreds of thousands and your female editors are uncomfortable?

Your site and Horowitz’s work has been fighting against Islam, a group that forces women into burquas, stones them to death for speaking to a man or being raped, advocates clitorectomies within some sects and under Sharia law places a woman somewhere below dirt and dung.

Sit back, remove yourself from any feelings of friendship you may have for your female editors and ask yourself this..

If they can’t handle a post made on a message board how could they ever stand up against any Islamic fanatic?

Can you not see how absurd this complaint sounds given the work you do?

Eaker’s post was both hilarious and dead on.

“Sensitive” sissy chicks need not apply.

The women of FR are warriors and any ‘painfully fragile ladies’ just get in our way.

Maybe they should skip over to the Dem side where they’ll feel more “comfy”.

They’ll be more mindful of their feeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.

Weak ‘lil feller, very weak.

Unlike at your MySpace blog FReepers have the courtesy to ping someone if they are going to telltales about them.

I did not imply that women are weak and unable to handle “tough talk”, just that the ones employed at your blog are too tender for the real world of give and take. Note, this includes the wee ones that have a faint “Y” chromosome as well.

Here if one is willing to spout crap one has to be willing to be called on it and to defend it. Girls don’t get a pass just because they grew bigger boobs than humblegunner. You ain’t the teacher or dictator on FR that can tell others to “shut up”, you are just another big mouthed n00bie who doesn’t have what it takes.

The whole lot of ya!

Now get started on that apology and we can put this behind us.

I would support a law that says if you got into office and are found later to have violated the rules in order to get there, then you should be required to immediately vacate the office, having gotten there through unlawful means.

There has to be more consequence to it that just "Oops" and paying some fine. Because they can just write a check, it will continue to occur.

God, I love FReeper women! Tough as nails! Take no prisoners! Not like those "hurt feelings" excerpt posters that stop by once in a while.

You know what I always say: if you can't stand the heat, get back in the kitchen. Of course, I'm talking to the "gelding" excerpt posters, now, the ones offended by the word "$pit."

Goodness! Get the smelling salts!

I've been posting here since early 2001 and reading here since 1998. Never once have I gotten a case of the vapors.

Perhaps the "ladies" of Code Pink would be more amenable to your female editors?
