Not to be a wet blanket, but doesn’t this mean that more students will be passed with artificially high grades so the “merit” can be demonstrated for the higher pay?
I think they are smart enough to tie the performance to state wide testing, all students getting the same test.
At least I hope they are smart enough!!!
I am a teacher & I will tell you that the graft & waste of money comes directly from each district’s central office ( home of the superintendent & their attendent cronies & overpayed minions), so who knows, but anyone who has the guts to stand up to these dictators (& that is precisely what they are....... we only do what they tell us....) is a hero to teachers everywhere. Superintendents rule w/ fear and are NEVER questioned.
As for grade inflation.... it’s so far out of control that I don’t think it can ever be brought back to reality( I teach in a primary school and it starts in KINDERGARTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

That’s always a problem. Or standards go down so it’s easier for them to pass. It’s really going ot be up to parents to make sure this isn’t happening with their kids.
