Perot had the right idea, with his charts and warning about annual and cumulative debt.
Although he was too flakey to stay focused, he shook up the system, setting the stage for the GOP to get Clinton onboard for balanced budgets.
Had GW Bush held firm, he could have left office with far less debt.
As it was, Bush opened the door for the dems runaway deficits, and made it more difficult for the GOP to say, with straight faces, they stand for balanced budgets.
But if every GOP candidate shows the charts, and pledges balanced budgets, I think they can win resoundingly.
