I couldve also titled this piece Cringe-Worthy and Mind-Numbingly Painful to Watch. Um, the video youre about to see is that awful for two reasons: 1) Its a clear reminder that were losing our ethos and heritage as a country and 2) Wow, oh wow, our education system is quite the disaster. So heres the deal: On the cusp of the Fourth of July, late-night comedian Jay Leno filmed one of his usual Jaywalking segments, this time testing the historical knowledge of Americans on American history in light of America celebrating her triumph over tyranny.
Alas, the stupidity is all there
America gained independence from Greece! Martha Washington sewed the first American Flag! Winston Churchill was the general who led the Revolutionary War! There were 30 original colonies! America came to being in the year 1922! (That gem, mind you, came from a college professor. Seriously.)
This Leno clip may be funny, but as youll see following the video, the answers contained therein really do mirror the dumbing down of the American mind. See for yourself.

Well, if the rest of the “smart” Americans allow the hard left to dominate, what the hell do you expect?
When the good people sit on their *sses, the bad people takeover. It’s real simple.
Yeah, let’s laugh at the fool’s while we “smart” people are losing our country. That’s just great—makin’ the Romans proud, we are!
If they aren’t being taught this stuff, in school, or not, then they won’t get it by just breathing in and out, will they?
It’s time to go to work, folks.
Practice patriotism. Teach freedom!
Reinforces my belief that only grandpas should be allowed to vote.
Hard to watch, man, hard to watch.
Interesting that what trips off the tongue as common knowledge for the Grandpa is COMPLETELY UNKNOWN to his kids and grandkids.
I bet they know all about Martin Luther King Jr. though. There is NO CONTEXT for learning about civil rights unless you learn about the amazing planned free country that is the USA.
Even if you are black and don’t like the fact that back then, the founders felt they had to leave slavery legal, you should understand the wonders of this country and the men who formed the documents and fought the battles to make it happen. Only then can you understand that freedom for the African Americans was part of the journey of this marvelous experiment.
I believe that our education has failed our children for the past 30 or more years, and that it is nearly useless to supply free institutional education.
We need ONE state to do away with public schools, and the other 49 will follow. Each family should be given a sum to cover the education of each child. I suggest $5-6000/year. This is princely for a homeschooled student, but would also cover tuition in the many low-cost private schools that would crop up. If the parent spends the money on crack, so be it. We need to get parental responsibility squarely on the parent. Period.
And what was up with the white chick who thought we became independent from GREECE??
The logic we are given for not having literacy tests to vote is rather flawed. As long as people who are uneducated, ill-informed and mis-informed continue to vote they will always have representation that does nothing to help them become educated and well-informed. The people they elect are the ones who are best at manipulating the uneducated, ill-informed and mis-informed. Those politicians have no motivation to change that.

***I think with the next election, we should also come up with a different selection method for our kids school books...which keep them out of the liberal hands!***
Absolutely. I’ve read that California calls all the shots now, and whatever they want the books to say is what all states get. Also, the textbooks are full of bad editing which means many mistakes.
Ignorance is strength.
Well, on the positive side I have to say that I could at least understand those being interviewed. That they could communicate so well was surprising.
I’d bet that all of them could give us an update on Ms. Lohan.
Nah, just in shame like me how we could have allowed ourselves to get into this position yet saw it coming years ago.
So here we are, the days we thought would never arrive are here, now we must figure out a way to fix it.
Lets roll!
Yes...slow we are, but determined... Maybe that is the difference...
Yes, I’m afraid you may be right... We just keep letting things go by and ignoring the obvious. Maybe it is time to role) as he said... Time to take action - probably, time for everyone to realize the problem, unlikely...
Things will continue to deteriorate until it become obvious. That is the problem, it will be way to late to change anything...
Too late to fix it actually...but we can survive maybe...
We’ve already been though that. The testing was found to cause blacks to not be qualified to vote. I am curious as to what the questions really were on that test.
Of all the answers to the questions, this one left me floored:
Jay Leno- “Why did Geroge Washington cross the Delaware?”
Interviewee- “To get to the other side.”
I never actually thought I’d hear that.
OH my gosh Joe! I didn’t see that coming!
Jay Leno- Why did Geroge Washington cross the Delaware?
Interviewee- To get to the other side.
I never actually thought Id hear that
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
That is like the ‘tale’ of G Washington ‘throwing a silver dollar across the Potomac River’ which actually was the Rappahannock”...
Which is actually a TRUE story because we all know
A DOLLAR WENT FURTHER IN THOSE DAYS....
I'd like to see Leno asked these questions (w/o prepping).
How Obama Got Elected... Interviews With Obama Voters
Its interviews of actual Obama voters...it is sad and fascinating at the same time. Youll get a kick out of how uninformed they are and all of their wacky ideas (like the people Jay Leno interviews on the street).
Well, there are...in the Caliphate!
