Medal of Honor recipient Col. Leo Thorsness was in Wichita this weekend in support of businessman and military veteran Mike Pompeos 4th District Congressional campaign. The veteran tribute and Team Pompeo Rally was held on Sunday, July 18th at Col. James Jabara Airport. Col. Thorsness also went door to door, in support of Pompeo, on Saturday!

Does anyone else ever read these breaking news headlines and feel stupid for thinking “Who are these people?”
I was trying to get our most recent kid named after Leo. He’s awesome. But my wife vetoed it and the baby was a girl anyway, so whatchagonnado?
Leo was a "Wild Weasel" in Vietnam, POW and CMoH winner. In addition, he was a state Senator (and damn good one).
I worked at the leg. during his senate days. Absolutely the nicest guy one could ever meet. First class!
Trivia - In the movie "Hanoi Hilton", Leo played the General who was first to welcome our POW's home at the end of the movie.
Yeah, Thorsness would be a mouthfull for a little kid to pronounce. ;-)
I was coming up the escalator to the gates at BWI toward the book store and looked across to see a distinguished gentleman wearing a sky blue ribbon around his neck. Col. Thorsness was wrapping up a book signing session but I got there in time to spend a few minutes with him and get a signed copy of his book. What a gracious and humble man he is. That’s a strong endorsement.
LOL! I offered to make his middle name just the letter T (like Truman’s was just the letter S) or stop at Leo and give him my name as his middle, but there was no sale. Same deal with Joshua Chamberlain.
However...we did agree on on Samuel Moran for a boy. Samuel was just because we liked the sound, but Moran was for John Moran, aka Freeper BCM, an FDNY Battalion Chief who died at the Trade Center on 9/11. Since we had a girl, she was named Sandra Olson after Freeper Barbara Olson.
I’ve had the privilege of corresponding with MOH recipient Sammy Davis (and we have mutual friends, though we haven’t met yet), and that humble dignity is something he exudes.
Yeah, some people don't have strong posting skills and forget some basic who, what, where, when, why, how and then refer you to Google to make up for their weak posts.
Pompeo is a very good guy. Going through an expensive and bruising campaign. Democrats waiting in the wings with a very liberal, straigh-party-line Sebelius protoge. No question of which of these two would be the very best Congressman.
You are not even a Registered Republican, according to your bio.
Therefore, I will wait for the opinions of others.

Weak Post’s...no...you have it wrong...you are the weak one...most people would be smart enough to not admit they didn’t know who Col. Leo Thorness was and look it up...but of course not a Mr. know it all like you......
I live in the district and was visited by a Pompeo worker yesterday. FYI: there is no incumbent, the current rep (Tiahrt) is running for the Senate.
I have been leaning toward Pompeo and against his primary opponent, Wink Hartman, but was not completely convinced. Both candidates claim to be conservative. Both have made allegations against the other, but I have decided that the charges against Pompeo (that he outsourced jobs to Mexico) were untrue while those against Hartman (that he really doesn't live in Kansas anymore) had at least a grain of truth.
With endorsements from Thorsness, veteran's groups, Kansans for Life, etc. I'm thoroughly convinced who the best man for the job is.
