Used to work on South Capitol Street in the downtown area (inside the Mile Square), and every evening I had to catch the bus home, or if I drove, drive North on Capitol, and then turn right on 10th to go to Emerson to drive North to 21, then on to Ritter Avenue.

Nice route to take ~ mostly paved road the whole way (snicker).

One evening I was just clearing the immediate downtown residential slum along Capitol when some of the Bills (Kay-Wackians) decided to have a shoot-out. I could see the cloud of smoke in my rear-view mirror and didn't make a right turn until I got to 38th street!

Now I know you are going to tell me Indianapolis got worse over the decades, but I'm here to tell you Ain't No Change! Well, they do have more highways Fur Shur.

I admire your courage and persistance!

I won’t disgree about Indy being worse over the decades. Maybe I’m just more aware than I was back then. I’m getting older and wiser(maybe not so to some people).
