Tea Party Leader: NAACP Is Playing the Race Card (Tea Party Express Disowned on Nat'l TV)
CBS News ^ | Sunday, July 18, 2010

A co-founder of Tea Party 365 today denounced what he called the NAACP's "selective racism," claiming that the organization was condemning figures who are not part of the Tea Party movement.

SNIP

Webb said self-policing is the right and responsibility of any movement or organization and added, "That is what we do." He said Williams has been expelled from the National Tea Party Federation, "because of the letter that he wrote which he, I guess, may have considered satire but which was clearly offensive."

In the letter posted on marktalk.com but since removed, Williams wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln in the voice of blacks decrying emancipation, saying that slavery was "a good gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house."

"I denounce any acts that I see many leaders do," said Webb, but suggested that for Jealous to say such acts were representative of millions of Tea Party members is "blatantly false."

Webb said the NACCP is "simply playing the race card."

Jealous thanked Webb for talking publicly against such racist comments by organization members. "You are the only national Tea Party leader who I've seen come out and publicly state the things that you stated, and taking on Mark Williams was much appreciated...

"But you're also being disingenuous, when you say that a man who is a founder of Tea Party Express, who is on TV as a national spokesman, hasn't been a Tea Party leader. He absolutely was. He was the day that he wrote that vile note penned in my name saying that President Lincoln was the biggest racist ever because slavery was a good gig. Thank you for following through.

"I sort of did you a favor to draw this guy out!" Jealous added.

More satire, more ridicule, more scorn, and more laughter needs to be generated against the NAACP Tea Party Federation. If the NAACP Tea Party Federation wants honest debate, then that is to be welcomed. If the NAACP Tea Party Federation wants to stand back and claim racism without having to back it up, then the NAACP Tea Party Federation should be subject to such ridicule that its members will replace the leadership.

I just noticed that this is CNN.com's lead now.

And here is a thread about the CNN story.

Don't fall for the MSN calling any group the Leaders of The Tea Party Movement.

The TPM is alive and well and this little stunt by the MSM (using the "colored" organization NAACP's racist talking points) will backfire on them.

The NAACP is racist as well as segregationist.

BUMP!!

But I have to take exception with your claiming to be the Tea Party Leader. That’s because I’m the REAL TEA PARTY LEADER, like you said, along with a few million others.

:)

Tea Party members and supporters let's learn how to fight against the progressive leftists like the NAACP. Their claim that everyone associated with the Tea Party is some how responsible for a racist comment or sign is fallacious. Let me give you an example which should put their claim to rest once and for all. Suppose all baseball fans supporting a team attended a ball game at the stadium and one or a few fans yelled out a racial slur or held a racist sign. Does that mean that all the fans are racists? The answer is obvious, no.
This is exactly what the NAACP is claiming against the Tea Party members and supporters. It is ridiculous, there is nothing to defend and it cannot stand. If this is all they have to debate as we move toward the elections then they don't have much. I recommend to all Tea Party members and supporters to use this analogy in response to any progressive leftist who attempts to paint a broad brush of racism against members and supporters of the Tea Party then end the conversation and move on.

Hmmmm ..?? I don’t get that impression at all. What I see is somebody stepping up and setting rules and making them stick. When you do that .. it stops people like Mark from infiltrating into your organization and destroying it.

To me .. it seems like Mark was the one trying to divide; basically because he was being proven to be not serious about the impact of the Tea Party movement.

I wondered what was going on when Mark suddenly quit - I’m sorry he took that path. I think it will always taint him.

The most serious hit to the Tea Party Movement was Mark Williams' attempt at satire. He deserved to be rebuked and it could not have happened at a worse time.

The Dale Robertson character with the sign with the N-Word from 2009 Is a self promoter who has tried to glom onto the Tea party movement by buying a domain teaparty.org and soliciting donations.

I am afraid there are some "Patriot For Bucks" types hanging around.

Isn’t “leadership” fun? What the Tea Party Express types don’t “get” ... as soon as you stick your head above the horizon to take credit for leadership, it gets shot off. THe neat thing about the tea party is they can’t “find” us ... we are everywhere. I look at being a “tea party leader” about the same way I think about my “concealed carry permit”. Nobody knows I’m “armed” ... mentally and physically! :-)

"It’s almost as if the Tea Party Federation, whatever that is, is drying to divide people."

If they're drying to divide, they're all wet.
