I have had no use for any of the stupid Tea Party “leadership” from the beginning - from Tea Party Patriots to Tea Party Express, to Freedom Works. they have all disappointed big time along the way.

I think this started to come off the rails when they held that damned convention earlier this year.

You are correct, AC. See my post #79 and the links contained therein.

He said the NAACP are race baiters who have made more than any slave traders.

A bit cutting but nowhere near the level of the Black Panthers or the lies of NAALCP. Guess the TP wants to prove the charges right.

Pray for America

The bad thing here is that these people have just admitted that tea party people are racists. They admitted it by throwing out one of its member groups. They identified who it was and they gave a good indication that freedom of speech is not included in their vision of returning to living under the Constitution.

They have given the democrats a big victory when none was deserved. Tea party groups should abandon this bunch of clowns.

I had to get to post 21 before I found the comment I wanted to add. I’ve always thought that scene best represents the potential fracture in the TEA Party movement.

The problem with the Republican hacks who have tried to astro-turf the Tea Party movement is that they don’t know how to stop being Republican hacks.

The tea party is not another political party. It is a group of like-minded individuals who have similar goals, ideals and objectives.

It's a movement that calls for changes - smaller limited government, drastically reduced gov’t. spending, less taxes, a secure border, state's rights, strong national defense. We want our basic freedoms and liberties protected including gun ownership, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and protection of our property rights.

We are comprised of persons from all political venues, from all parts of the country, from all races and genders, all ages with the above issues special to our hearts foremost in our minds as we start the process of cleaning house.

Cleaning house the likes of which has never been seen. On both sides of the aisle. We don't have the time or the desire to fight amongst ourselves. Our focus should be laser sharp and pointed at any element in any area of government that does not represent the Constitution or the freedom of American people.

They appear to be in violation of their own rules for expulsion of a member group:

“Removal from NTPF:
Upon motion and presentation of case, any group may be removed from NTPF membership by majority vote of NTPF membership. Cause must be a violation of membership rules or other gross misconduct (for example inciting violence).”

Unless, of course, gross misconduct is defined as “saying something we don’t like.”

Rules, including above quote at: http://www.thenationalteapartyfederation.com/Membership_Registration.php

Self-appointed tin-pot dictators, if you ask me. A group I would be proud to be expelled from.

I have never heard of Mark Williams or the National Tea Party Federation. I'm on the Tea Party Express mailing list but I don't belong to them as a member. Apparently I don't read their e-mails much either or this wouldn't be the first I've heard of this.

I AM the TEA Party!

The Tea Party Express, the National Tea Party Federation and all "official" TEA Party organizations can all take a flying leap. If you belong to a "Tea Party" organization then you're not a TEA Partier.

http://radiopatriot.wordpress.com/2010/07/16/lloyd-marcus-and-mark-williams-take-on-the-naacp/

Mark Williams’ response:
Letter to Lincoln

A personal note from Mark Williams:

At the start of my interview on MSNBC this morning I was informed by the anchor that Ben Jealous, author of the NAACP anti-tea party resolution has offered something of an olive branch and wants to open discussions with tea partiers regarding dialing down the unproductive shots going back and forth. After the interview I contacted his office via email and provided him with all of my contact information, including my private telephone number in order to speak man to man with him and find common ground for progress. I do hope that he follows through and calls. The first round of beers at our ’summit’ will be on me.

Following what I believe to be a sincere move by Mr. Jealous I recognize that I have a responsibility to act in kind (just as I did in response to the NAACP’s anti-tea party resolution and what was said about us) and that the continued controversy over this post can only dectract from the discussions. Furthermore, I applaud Mr. Jealous and welcome his willingness to help move us past talking points and personalities. This nation has real problems and we are in real danger. That is no time for Mark Williams and Ben Jealous to get into a battle of egos and personalities.

Point made now we move forward.

To that end and as a reciprocal gesture I have removed the parody letter you came here to read and urge you to fight those who seek to divide us by race, no matter the color of the racist. Our fight is against tyranny and for liberty and to see that this nation continues the lofty goal of equality for all set for us by our founders. Make no mistake though, there are those for whom peace and progress is poison and they will continue to circulate the several versions of my article (Yes, there were several versions. As reasonable people pointed out to me wording that I agreed was indeed objectionable it was removed or changed by me personally.) I am also very happy to learn that we all agree that the term “Colored People” is offensive, so now would perhaps be a good time to let the National Association of Colored People know so that they may chose a more appropriate moniker.

Now that Mr. Jealous and others realize their error and seek to mend fences it becomes my job to not offend rational people who disagree with me on the relevant issues while not sacrificing the truth. I heard too from many very sober and thoughtful people who counseled me that my comments were an obstacle to progress and that I missed my intended target. The day that I cannot learn something new will be the one following the coroner’s signature on my death certificate and this is not that day. So, with that I reiterate what I and every tea partier have said repeatedly: We denounce racists of any color and all those who seek to divide the American People along any lines.

I would suggest to those offended by the term “Colored People” (the phrase that made my article so controversial) please contact the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and join me in calling for an end to their use of the racial slur and that Mr. Jealous take me up on my offer to travel with me on the next Tea Party Express so that he may meet all of you in person. His contact information is below.

Sincerely,

Mark Williams

NAACP Telephone: (410) 580-5777 or (877) NAACP-98

Tea Party Patriots is an organization with members across the nation.[69] The group proclaims itself to be the “Official Home of the Tea Party Movement. [70] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Party_movement The National Tea Party Federation was formed on April 8, 2010 by several leaders in the Tea Party movement to help spread its message and to respond to critics with a quick, unified response.[71] Missing from the announcement was Tea Party Patriots, the best organized online network of local tea party groups. http://articles.latimes.com/2010/apr/08/nation/la-na-tea-federation9-2010apr09

The Tea Party Glossary - two pages: KEY TEA PARTY ORGANIZATIONS (IN THEIR APPROXIMATE ORDER OF IMPORTANCE)

1) Tea Party Patriots – Calling itself the “official grassroots American movement,” Tea Party Patriots was one of the first online networks that allowed tea party groups around the country to have a web presence and connect with each other. It now claims 15 million contacts and 1,000 local organizations, and while cautiously disavowing any attempt to control its member groups, is often seen as the movement headquarters.

2) Tea Party Express – The 9/12 protest in Washington was heralded by a highly-publicized caravan of buses that wound its way across the country, holding 34 rallies along the way. The organizer, Tea Party Express. Tea Party Express is funded by Our Country Deserves Better PAC. Tea Party Patriots repudiated the group in October for its GOP-centric leadership as well as the PAC’s support of Republican candidates.

As someone who works for the Tea Party Express I have to say this action by the "National Tea Party Federation" is ridiculous.

Instead of attacking the REAL target, the NAACP - who ARE indeed racist - they hand the media and the Left what they want, which is to see tea partiers fighting with each other and trying to dictate codes of conduct for each other. You CAN say this, but you CAN'T say that, and you must say it in THIS way.

Absolutely absurd. The National Tea Party Federation should be ashamed of themselves. They've just emboldened our enemies on the Left and the media.

Why so many in the movement chose to join ANY of these groups is beyond me. They must all be sheep and NEED to have a leader and feel like they BELONG.

Boy did you NAIL it with that comment. Rush had an interesting segment last week similar to this. Libs are "group" people ... what's good for individuals is what's good for the group. Conservatives are focused on the individual, looking at what's good for the individual ... avoiding groups. Groups don't "get it right" unless everybody in the group is doing it right (and they never will). But an individual can do it right and it is "complete." It doesn't take someone else's input to succeed. As you move toward the "right" (individual) there is more and more RISK/REWARD, or FAILURE/SUCCESS ... and at the very end of that line, either is "total." If you move to the left toward "group", at the end of that line is NO RISK/NO REWARD or NO FAILURE and NO SUCCESS. Beck touched on it last Friday with the "collective" salvation rather than the "individual" salvation.

Diverging now back into the subject. We are all "somewhere" along that line from extreme left to extreme right. There is this genetic need to "herd" ... must be some old, old instinct that once protected us from dinosaurs or something. So the "easier and safer" method moves us left along the line, a natural desire for self protection. I think the Tea Party folks tend to move on this same line. They feel "safe" all agreeing on a candidate and supporting him/her. But then their "choice" gets clobbered in the primary and they are devastated. Why make the choice as a "group?" ... that should be an INDIVIDUAL choice! You make the decision IN the voting booth and you don't tell anybody who you are voting for ... you simply have a personal mission statement, your own core values, then in the voting booth RESTATE those beliefs with you choice of candidate.

The fallacy is that we have this "need" to convince others that they need to vote for a particular candidate. As soon as we do that, we are moving left ... that's group think. Staying "true" to the Tea Party Movement, we wouldn't be discussing a candidate ... we'd be discussing what WE believe and what the candidates believe. It's more difficult, and it takes more INDIVIDUAL thought.

The Tea Party should be about setting up a system by which people can LEARN and QUESTION and FORMULATE their OWN individual "system." What we don't like is "the group" telling us "as individuals" how to behave. So if people only explore that aspect ... the Tea Party is a huge success. But no, they decide to "back" something and all come out cheering (not different than a lynch mob) for "their winning choice." I don't want to vote for someone because "others think s/he is the right choice." I really don't care what "others" think ... its MY choice ... but I'm pretty far to the right on that line.

We have to be teaching people that INDIVIDUAL thought is more productive than GROUP thought. It is because YOU control the choices YOU make ... you are not waiting for consensus.

Groups move toward consensus. That is the DANGER inside the Tea Party movement, and a poison that could kill it. What's more important, supporting a Dem or Repub or supporting someone who will "act" as you wish when elected? The (Group Name Deleted) Tea Party group got "taken over" by a Republican Club President ... and they threw all their weight behind the Republican candidate, actually had a rally for her, etc. There was a Dem candidate too, but that person was not invited to speak at the rally. Result? Half those folks LEFT the group. By making a "group choice" they alienated fringe Democrats and EVERYBODY ELSE that didn't support that person. They reverted back to being a "Republican Club" which they already had. Now they have "two" of them ... efforts split.

I always get upset when I hear "Tea Party Candidate" ... nobody should know who the Tea Party Candidate is. If you keep pointing out what is GOOD about a candidate's position or what is WRONG about a position ... but discuss it, discuss it and discuss it again. The candidates should be continually having to define their positions because of the discussion, allowing the voter to better "see" what s/he is voting for or against. And this should continue until the magical moment in the voting booth where an INDIVIDUAL choice is made based on all the discussion.

Unfortunately, there is a little "left" in all of us, I suppose. Something we have to LEARN how to control if we are to be successful INDIVIDUALS.
