Gurkha ordered back to UK after beheading dead Taliban fighter

A Gurkha soldier has been flown back to the UK after hacking the head off a dead Taliban commander with his ceremonial knife to prove the dead man’s identity.

The private, from 1st Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles, was involved in a fierce firefight with insurgents in the Babaji area of central Helmand Province when the incident took place earlier this month.

His unit had been told that they were seeking a ‘high value target,’ a Taliban commander, and that they must prove they had killed the right man. The Gurkhas had intended to remove the Taliban leader’s body from the battlefield for identification purposes.

But they came under heavy fire as their tried to do so. Military sources said that in the heat of battle, the Gurkha took out his curved kukri knife and beheaded the dead insurgent.

He is understood to have removed the man’s head from the area, leaving the rest of his body on the battlefield.

This is considered a gross insult to the Muslims of Afghanistan, who bury the entire body of their dead even if parts have to be retrieved.

Trust me, from my reading of WWII history; this Taliban is already minced meat. From my reading ... seldom was their anything left of the body ... one of the things the Japanese feared the most. Stealth death and desecration of their dead bodies.

It's what Gurkhas do, it's why they are the most prized warriors on the planet, and it's why the Kukri is such a scary weapon (to the enemy) in their hands. The British set the standard for counter-insurgency operations in 1950's Malaysia on the backs of Gurkha troops doing just what this one did. We could learn a lot from how these tiny bada** MF's dealt with a Muslim foe back then.

Oh, and retrieving the severed head for positive ID is supposedly the exact instructions the Bush White House gave to our special ops people should they come across Bin Laden, dead or alive.

Whatever sniveling, pustule encrusted rat in Her Majesty's government ordered this warrior home should be hanged, drawn, and quartered at the Tower with live video feed to the BBC. That is the kind of action Britons who "never shall be slaves" would take. Otherwise, let us have the Gurkhas. We could use them on our southern border (and in certain parts of a few American cities).

Just got done reading a book about Malta and the Battle of Lepanto...not only did they cut off their enemies’ heads, they then hurled them at their advancing troops

“If anyone says he’s not afraid of dying, he is either lying, or he is a Gurkha.”

After the I.D.'d head is confirmed, put it on a pike in a town square in the headman's hometown with and I.E.D. in it. When the head is taken, remotely detonate the I.E.D. with just enough explosive to kill the headtakers...not blow them to smithereens. Then go out and chainsaw more deadheads and repeat the process. Problems solved.

HOORAY Gurkhas!

No telling how they tortured Daniel Pearl before they finally killed him, all because he was Jewish. How quickly the libtards forget or never care if it’s the good guys. They make me sick.

It is nice to know that the Gurkha warriors are still with us. Were I Taliban, I would not be within 1500 miles of those guys.

Their selection process is one of the most rigorous in the world.

That's a great story and I've heard it many times. Unfortunately, I can't find any historical verification for it.

I doubt that is gonna happen. The British have become as effeminate as the French. They will likely find some charge against this brave soldier and imprison him.

It might be appropriate to call him back to the UK....

for a medal. Awarded by the Queen as the head he took is on display, on a pike, near the Buckingham main gate.

Yeah, that would seem appropriate!
