It's what Gurkhas do, it's why they are the most prized warriors on the planet, and it's why the Kukri is such a scary weapon (to the enemy) in their hands. The British set the standard for counter-insurgency operations in 1950's Malaysia on the backs of Gurkha troops doing just what this one did. We could learn a lot from how these tiny bada** MF's dealt with a Muslim foe back then.

This is considered a gross insult to the Muslims of Afghanistan, who bury the entire body of their dead even if parts have to be retrieved.

After the I.D.'d head is confirmed, put it on a pike in a town square in the headman's hometown with and I.E.D. in it. When the head is taken, remotely detonate the I.E.D. with just enough explosive to kill the headtakers...not blow them to smithereens. Then go out and chainsaw more deadheads and repeat the process.
