Whitman stance on illegal immigrants riles GOP

Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, who recently campaigned with GOP former Gov. Pete Wilson as being "tough as nails" on illegal immigration, could alienate her crucial conservative base, some party members say, by declaring she's in lockstep on the issue with her rival: former Gov. Jerry Brown.

In an opinion piece published this week in a Spanish-language publication in Southern California, Whitman wrote that there is "very little" that she disagrees with Brown on concerning the hot-button issue of illegal immigration.

While both agree that undocumented immigrants should not be allowed to get amnesty or obtain driver's licenses, Brown's camp says they disagree on key issues, including whether to give illegal immigrants a path to legalization, which Brown supports.

Riling conservatives

Still, Whitman's statement has riled some conservatives to the point that they're threatening to sit out the election - an exodus that could hamper Whitman's chances.

FioRINO did the exact same thing. As soon as she won the primary she switched from a hard-as-nails border security hawk to reaching out to the Latino vote by running welcome to the land of the free lunch ads in Spanish.

NEVER vote RINO!!

They’ll screw you in the end every time!!

And what PO's me off even more about them than the Dems is with the Dems you at least know what you're dealing with; it's easy to assume they're bad news. Damned RINOs are all about misleading, misleading, misleading.

I’m not in California so I don’t have much interest in the governor office, but I’d certainly love to have anyone besides Boxer in there.

At this point, with the primaries over, would you suggest people vote for Brown and Boxer over Whitman and Fiorna?

Hmm ~ don't think your idea will go down well with the folks in San Diego County.

Your best bet is to build a wall roughly down the middle of the state that seals off Hispanic and Leftwingtard districts along the Pacific from the other places.

You don't let those people in those enclaves get out either.

You control them by turning on and turning off the water.

Hey, didn't the Democrats surprise you when they voted down the line to destroy the nation and hand it over to Mexico?

Or did you expect that out of them?

Democrats have the surprise of always reaching lower than anyone expects ~ it's called Defining Deviancy Down.

While you're still worried about same-sex marriage, they're already planning conjugal rights for pets, and not just your own pets but the next door neighbors schizophrenic chimpanzee and his 4 pit bulls.

Hey I'm one of the big "just hold your nose and pull the lever" guys here but I'm not sold yet that Meg is better than Jerry Brown. Brown has said he wants to put everything from tac cuts to tax hikes to spending on the voter initiative ballot in two years. The Legislature is broken so given that this approach isn't leadership I think it still might be better than trusting Meg to stand for something.

When I said I may write in DeVore I meant it because this is the last election write ins or 3rd party candidates are allowed. He knows the state system having been assemblyman and no he won't win but I might not really care which two wins. Maybe I change my mind but Meg has to give me a reason. So far she hasn't.
