US delivers 4 overhauled Mi-17 helicopters to Pakistan

The US has delivered four refurbished Mi-17 helicopters to the Pakistan Army.

The overhaul programme, carried out at an American facility, provides critical support to the Pakistan Army by expediting maintenance and returning urgently needed aircraft for flight operations, the US embassy said in a statement.

The US has funded maintenance overhauls for 24 Mi-17s in Pakistan Army, 12 of which were completed and returned to Pakistan last year.

The remaining eight helicopters are scheduled for delivery later this year.

The US is coordinating with the Pakistan Army to fund overhauls for another ten Mi-17s, and recently delivered to them two Bell 412 helicopters.

Funding is no problem. We’ll just have to cancel some more of our domestic stuff like the F-22. FUBO.

Couldn't agree more. Particularly when it comes to higher value/potency materiel such as AMRAAMs and Block 52 Vipers. You can be sure the Chinese are also very pleased. Next I hear they are looking towards getting one of the AESA radars been made available (such as the SABR and RACR AESAs that can be purchased and use to replace the mechanical systems currently in place). Again, such purchases will benefit Pakistan obviously, but they would benefit China all the more since even a RACR or SABR would be far far more developed than anything the Chinese would be coming up with even in a decade.

But hey ...the moment I heard Pakistan was receiving AMRAAMs is when I knew anything is possible. After all, the Taliban's flying carpet air-wing needs to be destroyed ....same thing with giving their Vipers conformal tanks ....I guess the Taliban airforce is located at far distances.
