NEIL CAVUTO, ANCHOR: Man, oh, man, now it is immigration war.
Welcome, everybody. Im Neil Cavuto.
And stopping the government from stopping Arizona two Republican senators just introducing an amendment moments ago that would stop the White House from legally challenging Arizonas crackdown, once and for all. One of the guys leading that charge with us now, South Carolina Republican Senator Jim DeMint.
Senator, early reaction, what have you had so far?
This is going to be a dicey vote, right?
SEN. JIM DEMINT, R-S.C.: Well, it will be. And the question is whether we can break it into the current bill that theyre considering on the floor. And I think we can, through a procedural move. But the Obama administration needs to stop bullying Arizona and start securing our borders and protecting our people.
All the people of Arizona are doing is enforcing the federal law. And most of the reports about what this law says, as you know, Neil, are not really true.
CAVUTO: So what does your amendment do? What would it prevent?
DEMINT: It would disallow any funding to be used to to carry out this lawsuit. And thats one way Congress can restrict the action of the executive branch is just by stopping the funding. So this is just one way to force a vote so America will know where all the senators are on this issue.
CAVUTO: So the vote would be, what, in the next few days? Whats the timeline?

Hunter/DeMint 2012
Good idea. Let every senator record his vote on enforcement of immigration law. This will embarass many dems.
HA!
Go DeMint Go!!!
Something has got to be done to rein in the executive branch and this is a step in the right direction.
Sounds good to me.
The Power of the Purse.
Congress has always had it. Maybe its time they use it for the good of the People!
I hope DeMint kicks McConnell from the leadership position after the election.
Brilliant move!
About Time!! They need to use this on EVERYTHING! Can’t they use this on the suspension of drilling in the gulf! Cut off their funds to keep going to court.
You are right
If DeMint and Vitter do nothing more that this it will have been a victory

One thing that concerns me is Obama is kissing Hispanic’s asses for votes and he will gvet every black who votes
so are there enough white people plus whatever number of conservatice Hispanics are out there to cancel out the stupid latinos and blacks? ( stupid as in drinking obama’s kool aid)
Would that more of these yahoos understood the way the system works, was designed. Next step, get it on one of the *must pass* pieces of legislation, the ones that have no fear of veto.
God bless ya, Sen. DeMint, thank you!
Maybe I’m not considering every aspect - but wouldn’t it be better for them to proceed with the suit and lose outright, instead of trying to give the administration “cover” prom proceeding with what would be a certain defeat for them?
I’m torn over this move. I like the idea of getting everyone on the record regarding their position on this issue. I don’t like the idea of any Congress preventing the Executive branch from pursuing a lawsuit. The Executive branch is charged with enforcing the laws.
Part of me wants to see this lawsuit go forward because it’s important to the concept of States’ Rights. I think we can win this one. That would be an important victory over this corrupt administration. The Courts have jurisdiction over this matter and it should be adjudicated.
Part of me likes the idea of Congress cutting off funding for a clearly political action by the Obama Admin.
I think I’m leaning toward having the Court adjudicate the matter. We can win and set an important precedent in the process.
What did the courts say about our dictator stopping the off shore drilling...and what did our dictator do with that court order?
No, he’s a nut case and needs to be shut down from future side steps of the courts orders...one way to do that is let HIM pay the bills!
Non-Hispanic Whites still make up 65%+ of the US population (and if you count White Hispanics, I'm sure its easily 70%+). If Obama has any pull at all, it is because he also has significant support amongst non-Hispanic Whites, even if it may not be a majority of non-Hispanic Whites.
During the 2008 Campaign, many of Obama's biggest supporters were urban white youth (in their teens and 20's). And in America's largest urban centers, whites typically supported Obama in the campaign.
