Actually I own a gun, but it is even LONGER than my bass.
When I run out of shot, I can swing THAT too!

I actually carry my M-24 sniper rifle in a Fender Bass case... It let's me carry it into hotel rooms (I travel as a firearms instructor) without people freaking out. Looks cool with its stickers on it... Not one person has ever asked about a gun, but I have been asked what kind of strings I play. I just tell them I use either "Ernie Ball" or "LaBella's", and they say "cooooolll".
And talk about a bass note that really carries the distance - well, you get the picture.
