Janice Wells called the Richland Police Department when she feared a prowler was outside her clapboard house in the rural west Georgia town.
The third-grade teacher had phoned for help. But within minutes of an officer coming to her backdoor, she was screaming in pain and begging not to be shocked again with a Taser. With each scream and cry, the officer threatened her with more shocks.

"I did what I had to do to take control of the situation," Smith told the AJC about his decision to repeatedly discharge his Taser.

Did you watch the video?
While forgiveness is not in your nature, I am posting this on a cellphone so typoes are going to occur. But do try to stick to the facs and restrain your pejoritive judgements about my intellect. I cannot see your profile from this device. Most do not have one. I did not look. I can just tell a statist defender of the government system by their fruits.
You ignored all the facts about authority, liberty, natural law. And you focused on my typing and urban population. Those are the things which identify a government conditioned operative.
As Reagan said. You are the problem. Your very elitist attitude. You are proud, vain, and above accusation. Exactly the traits least desired in a public servant.
I’m not totally biased against the police, so you call me a copsucker? That’s a disgusting thing to call a fellow Freeper.
Yes - that describes almost every entry you've made on this thread. Drunkenness seemed to me to be the only rational explanation.
If in fact you're sober, I apologize, but find myself even more perplexed. You obviously have a deep-seated hatred for LEOs.
It might be helpful to offer some background - explaining the reason for the depth of your angst. Lacking that, you come across as petty and shallow in your assessment.
Just sayin...
So I don't expect us to talk again. Which is fine with me. I love the cop-haters around here. A couple articles about meat-head cops and you guys put the label on the entire profession.
I wish people posted about similar accusations about bad doctors or soldiers and the like so we could see how idiotic you all are. Cops are just an easy target.
Flakey remarks like yours give FR a black eye.
You can’t reason with a ding.
It’s impossible to have an adult conversation on FR regarding any police use of force. The same group of rabid trolls from DU click over and hijack the thread, every time. Reminds me of the border wars of ‘06, it does.
Call you? No. I was refering to the arguments you introduced in evidence.
I like to read the replies on these types of postings because it continuously reminds me that ignorance is still supreme. I see more conspiracy-theorist libertarianism seeping into the Freerepublic base every day.
My usual advice for someone who doesn’t like the police or generally distrusts them is they should then go to your local city or county department.....or go a couple cities over, and request a ride-a-long. Most police departments have some sort of ride-a-long program.
Here’s a real statistic for you: 98% of the general public has absolutely no idea whats involved in a general patrol officer’s shift. Watching C.O.P.s is not good way to educate yourselves on law enforcement.
If you want to carry on a decent discussion about law enforcement one should know a little bit about what they are discussing....not spewing baseless rhetoric and pablum.
There are bad apples in all kinds of places, the military & the catholic church for instance. Should 75% of the military be thrown out or executed? Maybe all catholic priests need to be executed?
No? Yett that sentiment applies to police.
At least soldiers have to follow the UCMJ, and be held accountable for their mistakes. They don't get paid administrative leave.
"Cops are just an easy target."
You can always go sell used cars.
~”Call you? No. I was refering to the arguments you introduced in evidence.”~
You are using semantics to cover your slur of fellow posters.
And more to the point - there was nothing invented about my evidence. According to the story the woman has invented after she lawyered up, John came to stay with her until the police arrived. So why then in the video does she tell the sheriff, “I just wanted them to ask John to leave”?
At this stage she’s been peppersprayed, assaulted, handcuffed, and repeatedly tasered. I wouldn’t expect anything coherent from her.
LOL! Good try at a save. She’s clearly lying.
Well then. I guess the cop will keep his job.
They should lose their jobs. They’re sadists at the least, and probably racists as well.
I would recommend that people who are hypercritical of cops do as you suggest brent, and ask for a ride-a-long. A good block of time would be from about 9 pm to 3 am, in the summer. A big city would be a good place to ride. To quote Winston Zeddemore from Ghostbusters: “I’ve seen s..t that will turn you white.” Also, for cops, even ones early in their career, a good book to read is “What Cops Know,” by author Connie Fletcher.
Actually, he wasn't fired...he quit and got the next job as quick as he could before his bosses finalized the process of firing him. Gives the new dept cover over hiring him.
Yeah, I went back in an watch the video, then reread two see which one was working for the Sheriff’s office. Also it was a different county so I guess he did have to run out of the county to get another job in law enforcement.
I hope this publicity let his new employer know what they have. Surely he will lose his state law enforcement credential?
After watching this, I don’t think I would disagree with any of that, which is sad, really.
