The average American probably thinks ‘Progressive’ is a company that employs a quirky painted chick named ‘Flo’ to sell them insurance in a sterile online store.

The general public is too enamored with Lebron James and Tiger Woods at the moment to even care to delve past the political superficiality that makes them do stupid things like, say, elect Barack Obama for president.

I don’t have much faith in them. I just pray that more informed types come out in November and that the left’s useful idiots find themselves way too busy to care to show up.

Neither did the Founders.

That's why they left it up to the states to decide who got to vote.

4 Amendments and Motor Votor later, here we are.

1972 : (OHIO : PETER LEWIS WORKS FOR GEORGE MCGOVERN'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN -- See PROGRESSIVE CORP/INSURANCE COMPANIES, WAR ON DRUGS, TED KENNEDY, CCR) Lewis has been heavily involved in U.S. Democratic Party politics for years. He started by working as the Ohio finance chairman for George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign. “I did it essentially because I hated Richard Nixon,” Lewis said. -- "DADDY WEEDBUCKS MAKES BID FOR WHITE HOUSE : Who is Peter Lewis? ," by Cliff Kinkaid, AIM Report, January 26, 2004

2001 : (NEW ZEALAND : US DEMOCRAT PARTY ACTIVIST PETER LEWIS OF PROGRESSIVE CORP, IS ARRESTED FOR IMPORTING THE DRUGS HASHISH & POT-- -- See PROGRESSIVE CORP/INSURANCE COMPANIES, WAR ON DRUGS, TED KENNEDY, GEORGE MCGOVERN, CCR) on a trip to New Zealand three years ago [2001], he was arrested and admitted to three charges of importing drugs after customs officers found two ounces of hashish and 1.7 ounces of marijuana in his luggage. The charges, however, were dropped and his identity suppressed by a court in New Zealand. -- "DADDY WEEDBUCKS MAKES BID FOR WHITE HOUSE : Who is Peter Lewis? ," by Cliff Kinkaid, AIM Report, January 26, 2004

NOVEMBER 10, 2003 : (REPORT : US DEMOCRAT PARTY ACTIVIST PETER LEWIS OF PROGRESSIVE CORP PLEDGES $10 MILLION TO THE LIB GROUP ACT --- SEE SHADOW GOVERNMENT, SOROS, CAP, 2004 ELECTION, PROGRESSIVE CORP/INSURANCE COMPANIES, WAR ON DRUGS, TED KENNEDY, GEORGE MCGOVERN, CCR) His [Soros] campaign began last summer [2003] with the help of Morton H. Halperin, a liberal think tank veteran. Soros invited Democratic strategists to his house in Southampton, Long Island, including Clinton chief of staff John D. Podesta, Jeremy Rosner, Robert Boorstin and Carl Pope.
They discussed the coming election. Standing on the back deck, the evening sun angling into their eyes, Soros took aside Steve Rosenthal, CEO of the liberal activist group America Coming Together (ACT), and Ellen Malcolm, its president. They were proposing to mobilize voters in 17 battleground states. Soros told them he would give ACT $10 million.
Before coffee the next morning, his friend Peter Lewis, chairman of the Progressive Corp., had pledged $10 million to ACT. Rob Glaser, founder and CEO of RealNetworks, promised $2 million. Rob McKay, president of the McKay Family Foundation, gave $1 million and benefactors Lewis and Dorothy Cullman committed $500,000.
Soros also promised up to $3 million to Podesta's new think tank, the Center for American Progress. ------Washington Post * Backers of CCR include: Louis Farrakan, Lyndon LaRouche, Michael Moore, Sean Penn, the late (second) wife of the traitor Alger Hiss, Actors Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, singer Natalie Merchant , Pete Seeger (the folk singer from The Weavers), Insurance magnate Peter B. Lewis, a kingpin of George Soros’s “Democracy Alliance,” writes big checks to CCR, as does Soros’s Open Society Institute.

NOVEMBER 1966 : (NLG GROUP CCR IS FOUNDED AS A FRONT FOR THE OLD COMMUNIST PARTY -- See NECLC) The CCR is a Communist Party creation, coming about as a project of the CPUSA-controlled, marxist dominated National Lawyers Guild (congressionally cited as a CPUSA front). It was created by William Kunstler, Arthur Kinoy, Peter Weiss, possibly CPer Morton Stavis, etc, from the law firm of Kunstler, Kinoy, Stavis and Weiss, and from other CPers in the NLG.
It was created to bring in New Left lawyers and legal workers who were not CP members nor necessarily members of the NLG, then, in the 60’s, a CP/Marxist controlled operation..
Members of another key CPUSA legal front, the National Emergency Civil Liberties Committee, also were involved with CCR. Among CCR’s leaders have been Michael Ratner, a registered agent for Castro and avowed Marxist; Ron Daniels, a black marxist extremist who has just created a new radical front; and Marilyn Clements, from the Hanoi Lobby and Anti-Defense Lobby and pro-Sandinista lobby; and others whose records show their affinity for communist causes in the US and around the world (El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Communist Yugoslavia/Milosevic, as well as being anti-Colombia, anti-Israel, and against all anti-terrorism programs). Older reports on the CCR were published in the Congressional Record in the 1970’s and possibly early 1980’s by Rep. Larry McDonald (D-Ga), sometimes in Human Events weekly, and other conservative publications, including the old Pink Sheet on the Left/American Sentinel.----17 posted on 10/11/2007 6:26:49 PM PDT by Max Friedman | To 4
