NHS 'to undergo radical overhaul'

The NHS in England is to undergo a major restructuring in one of the biggest shake-ups in its history, the government has announced.
Hospitals are to be moved out of the NHS to create a "vibrant" industry of social enterprises under the proposals.
And, as expected, GPs are to take charge of much of the budget.
The move will lead to the abolition of all 10 strategic health authorities and the 152 management bodies known as primary care trusts.
The new structure will be held accountable by an independent NHS board which would be free from political interference, the government said

Not surprisingly, all of the countries utilizing either a totally or partially socialized health care system have significant challenges, and annual budget overruns. I know that won't be a surprise to anyone here.

I have not seen a single credible study that proves that socializing reduces costs, except through the cost reductions realized by rationing.

Switzerland may have found something that works, but it's really too soon to know conclusively, and even their more market-driven program has had challenges. Of course, unlike America, EVERYONE in Switzerland has skin in the game, and their health care system is NOT designed at a wealth-transfer system, which it of course is the other socialized states (and soon to be here)

We have rationing here, but it's done by private insurers. If you don't like how your insurer is rationing, it's a free country and you can change insurers. Unfortunately, when the government takes over and they start to ration, it's impossible to change governments, irrespective of how poorly they perform.
