Yes, slavery was a mistake and it seems you are one of the few on this thread that acknowledge that fact.
And if as you imply that 400,000 American white men died fighting to abolish slavery, you must also believe that hundreds of thousands of white American men died fighting to preserve slavery.
So that argument, If valid, is a bit of a wash.
Im not advocating reparations for those whose ancestors fell victim to American slavery as it would be impossible to determine the value of the work completed with interest and who exactly would receive that money.
Instead, we must never whitewash the evils of slavery and be specific and honest when teaching of American slavery.
And while America is a great country, we must recognize our nations past ills along with our past accomplishments to advance freedom.
