GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – The Rev. Robert H. Schuller, founder of Southern California's Crystal Cathedral megachurch and host of the "Hour of Power" televangelism broadcast, announced Sunday he will retire after 55 years in the pulpit and his daughter will take over.

The 83-year-old Schuller told his congregation that Sheila Schuller Coleman will become sole lead pastor, after sharing that role with her father for the past year.

Coleman previously served as principal of a private Christian school run by the cathedral and head of the Orange County church's family ministries division.

I would have no prblem with women pastors if the Bible didn’t tell us not to go there.

About time.

His son was very good, but the old man didn't like messages from the Bible. Messages about sin and stuff. Not feelgoody enough. So he fired him.

Schullers daughter is as shallow and theologically based as dad.

The oldman is nothing but a pompous, self aggrandizing *** and a detriment to the Word and kingdom of God.

Amen, except on the son part... I didn’t like him either. They reek phoniness.

As long as she only has one wife, she is OK

They all seemed to preach a prosperity gospel message...rather like Joel Olsteen does only he adds the addition of being a slaesman type motivational speaker cheerleader guy...but he stated he does not believe their is only one way to God so that pretty much makes Olsteen a money maker and a fraud in my book.

Robert Schuller always seemed far too enamored of pretense and pageantry for my tastes. His ‘Crystal Cathedral’ was clearly more of a monument to Bob Schuller than to God, who, scripture tells us, does not live in houses (temples) built by human hands (Acts 7: 48). Having his daughter take over the role as church Shepard is not in concord with scripture. This kind of diluted ‘ministry’, clearly influenced by secular values and customs, always turned me off to Schuller.

I wonder what false teacher they will get to replace him.

(It might be in the article - the headline was enough for me.)

And let us not forget that Reverand Schuller epitomizes the current state of Reformed theology in the United States, certainly in its best sales mode...

Yea, seems to be a problem with some Christians... They only believe what they want to...

I think the son ACTUALLY TRIED to teach the Bible. I have numerous pastors I would much rather listen to, that I have learned an awful lot more from.

I THINK, just my opinion, that a lot of the sons teaching "style" was part of the way he was brought up and part of fitting into a certain mold of the church itself. My point being that D. James Kennedy never would have fit in or lasted at The Crystal Cathedral Monument To Man, unless of course God moved mightly through the church.

I would like to hear Jr a few times, away from TCC and daddy, after he's been somewhere totally on his own for awhile, and comfortable with himself and his position.

Then I'll make a "final" discernment call.

But yeah, dad for sure is an absolute phony.
