It's interesting that I've seen varying degrees of hostility when Obama does this, at least in these press reports. I'm never able to discern who the "press pooler" is, I'm not sure if they're publicly identified as a matter of course. I know it rotates amongst the WH Press Corps on a day-to-day basis.
In any event, I have read a couple reports when Obama has pulled this that were dripping with contempt. It's clear that there are at least some WH press people that don't like it one bit.
I wonder how often it happens and the pooler just fails to report it.
I’m not sure where you heard these reports of contempt on the part of the press. Here’s one thing I haven’t heard: any major MSM spokesperson making an issue of it. If there were any real (not feigned) outrage a column would appear, slamming Obama’s tactics, or else a discussion on one of the round-table shows would lampoon Obama for it. I think they’re still in the smitten stage with a president so young, cool and ‘hip’ that he can shake his press detail at will. When they make a *public* point, loudly and unequivocally, of criticizing Obama, then I’ll believe they’re past that stage.
