Engines for Russia's new Superjet-100 airliner have failed to receive certification as they have several significant flaws, a business daily said on Tuesday. Bonaparte’s revenge! LOL
IIRC that jet has been in development for sometime now,
It all boils down to the amount of corruption that has seeped in Russian aviation.. Huge, clunky and inefficient Soviet-era ministries have been revived in the form of state-owned giants such as the United Aircraft Corporation and the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
In fact Russians are very capable engineers. A few people knows a lot of Dreamliners’ R&D are made by Russian students at Boeing’s Moscow design center. A lot of critical Dreamliners’ parts are manufactured near Yekaterinburgh, Russia. That is the place where they shot F. Powers back to 60s.
IMO Russian management is the reason of all their faults. Back to the Soviet times they had a political agenda in mind. Now they are just greedy using kickback model to build things. Both are not good to build a good product.
