As I wrote at the beginning of this article, this endless largesse, these lavishments from Infidels to Muslims take place, and keep being renewed without a squawk -- as when, the other day, Barack Obama simply told Mahmoud Abbas that the Slow Jihadists of Fatah would be getting another $400 million from the American government. There was no consultation with Congress, no discussion, no nothing - just $400 million, poof!, like that, signed over to those who are every bit as dangerous to the survival of Israel, and because more cunning, possibly more dangerous than the Fast Jihadists of Hamas who are now dominant among the Gazan Arabs and, were the IDF not around to prop Abbas up, would likely win favor, being less corrupt than Fatah, in the "West Bank" too.
And lets not forget Obama's plan to buddy up NASA at whatever $$$$ cost to create "good will"?
I agree with him on the nation building. My hope was that we’d go over there and blow them to hell and be done with it.

Agree. We should have finished in Iraq and turned east through Iran before we returned home. It would be cheaper to repeat this every few years as needed vs occupying and nation building. I bet we would have fewer casualties as well.
I don’t think there is any chance a neutral democracy could be created in Afghanistan that could even last 3 years without our troops present.
Regardless of what I think, I still pray for our soldiers and their families every day and I am thankful and proud of them.

dont blame him for not agreeing with nation building..it wont work. bounty does.
There is much to think about here.
But the "nation building" has to be recognized for what it is: an experimental offensive against jihad.
There is an ever better chance it will succeed in Iraq. And if that should impress only the Shi'ites, so be it. It would still constitute a major step in the right direction.
Put another way: It's fighting one idea with another, better idea.
Afghanistan, however, is no place in which to engage in nation building. There is no nation to be "built". Our strategy in this theater should be to ruthlessly exterminate the enemy -- even paying other tribes to do the job. Then, we depart...leaving a vivid memory of what happens when you cross the U.S. of A.
With the trillions spent in the past, and the future with Obama playing in concert to the Jihadists dreams....
It was different before we had a muslim overlord...
The US has been building the jihad, and the muslim h*llholes, and waging war on Israel for decades. You might say that most of the national product since 1945 has been spent on sheiks.
And now, the US homeland is being handed to them, as fast as the administration can sign off.
Fitzgerald’s money saving answer to fighting the Jihadists:
“And can’t we, intermittently, using Special Forces, drones, and missiles from afar, from time to time disrupt any attempt to return Al Qaeda or any of a dozen terrorist groups to Afghanistan? Wouldn’t that make better sense? And why should we build up yet another Muslim country, when it is impossible for its Muslim inhabitants to abandon Islam and what it teaches them? And what it teaches them requires them to view us with permanent, deep, if occasionally hidden, malevolence.”
This is wishful thinking. No amount of special forces or drones will not defeat an enemy if you can’t find the target. Fitzgerald, like so many ivory tower dreamers, doesn’t know a tinker’s damn about asymmetrical warfare. Such a tactic practiced by the Jihadists is fought using the tactics of counterinsurgency. Yes, it does involve some nation building to win the support of the people you need to fight the insurgents. Yes, this tactic was successful in Iraq and it is being applied in Afghanistan by General David H. Petraeus. And, yes we want to stick around in Iraq, just in case we need a base of operations against Ahmamadnutjob in Iran.
I can’t believe I read Fitgerald’s page of drivel!
I believe the opposite. “Nation building” is the ivory tower magical thinking. It won’t work.
You may see it as nation building. I see it as enlisting the help of the people by advancing their condition in life. How else can you do it? Give them candy, beads, and trinkets?
Don’t do it at all. It’s stupid. It won’t work.
It already has worked in Iraq.
Okie dokey. If you say so.
Yeah, nation building stinks. Let somebody else do it.
