Radical Awakening; from America Hater to Hero

Why is this not a HUGE story? If not read already (checked search w/titles and did not find it posted). . .this story a must read, in entirety. . .my first exposure was Newsrealblog.com who linked from biggovernment.com/ where printed in entirety.

From the April 2010 issue of Townhall magazine: Brandon Darby learned something from Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. Once a hard-core radical who sided with progressive revolutionaries, Darby prevented a left-wing terrorist attack on the 2008 GOP convention. Now, this America-loving patriot is the target of the domestic extremists he once called “friends.”

re Darby's activism per establishing Common Ground Relief in New Orleans:

/Like most people driven by a strong dogma, the majority of the people who took over were from Berkeley, and they came in under the guise of helping,” he said.

“They tried to use the experience to ‘correct’ the culture and lifestyle of the working-class poor. They tried to use the black residents of New Orleans as lab rats and guinea pigs, and I didn’t like that at all—and the residents didn’t like it either.”/ [. . .]

“It’s not about you coming here and creating your utopia,” Darby explained.]

This article appears in the current issue of Townhall magazine and is posted here with the magazine’s permission.)

Excerpt:

(Long before he learned of the RNC plot, Darby reached out to the FBI to undermine terrorism. A longtime Texas friend, the late Riad Hamad [pictured above], had tried to hijack Darby’s plan to provide medical assistance in war-torn parts of the world. Darby wanted to create a group called Critical Response that would have sent medics into war zones to help civilians caught in the crossfire in places such as Lebanon and Darfur.

Hamad, founder of the much-investigated Palestinian Children’s Welfare Fund, told him he wanted to send medics to Israel and put explosives on motorcycles and boobytrap ambulances in order to kill Jews. Hamad also hatched an elaborate plan to funnel money to Hamas and Hezbollah. Around the same time, Darby viewed a very graphic Israeli first responders’ training video.

“At the time I was conflicted about what to do, but seeing the dead bodies of Israeli children in that tape made the so-called Palestinian activists’ chant ‘no justice, no peace,’ take on a whole new meaning. I decided the only ethical thing to do was to tell law enforcement what I knew.”)

Very interesting.

I don't know how many Brandon Darby's there are in liberalism. There may be more, but considering that liberalism is a cult religion (or a mental disease as some put it), I don't see a large repentance of leftist stooges in the future.

Usually they have their epiphany in their last hours in the Gulag, when they realize the leftist tyranny they built doesn't need or want them anymore.

Incredible story and an incredibly courageous man. He has basically traded his life for the lives of others. I wish him nothing but the best.

His is an incredble story; particularly for it's 'fly on the wall' sharings. All which englarges the worst of the Left.

There are not many leftists who will stand up against violence. Violence against classes of their political and social enemies is a large part of their energy and momentum. That is why they find such a kindered spirit with the Islamists. Like Islamists, leftists feed off of innocent blood.

It only takes one person with a conscience to foil the Left’s plans of violence. This kid stood in the gap for American life. You better believe, they hate him for that.

Don't know 'how many' but we know it does happen. (David Horowitz a great example.) A great deal more required from a committed radical Leftie, of course, than say your average 'Liberal' or just a Democrat changing sides.

The only allowance I can think of that those who are far Left and do make a 'change' - have a richer- more moral - conscience perhaps than their radical peers. . .who perhaps have little authentic conscience available or have found little or no reason to exercise it.

(Maybe, too. . .the 'empowerment factor; whether it stems from an altruism or from an exclusively narcissistic MO. Much of the Left dogma preys on 'youthful idealism'; an idealism (a perverted idealism in truth) one naturally grows out of, unless one otherwise psychologically damaged.

By the time they make their mark, those 'soft-core' have already moved on. (Many become no more than useful idiots to the cause; while others 'grow up.) It is the sick, hard-core and irretractable, for most part, who are left. . .

/Usually they have their epiphany in their last hours in the Gulag, when they realize the leftist tyranny they built doesn't need or want them anymore./

Indeed. . .

Outstanding!

More proof that we can win the world of ideas, but it is one person a time.

Outstanding!

It really is an amazing story. . .

think many of the disciples of Liberalism have no clue what it is. . .'really'. Then, for many; it is a case of 'too late smart' and there is no turning back. Of course, there are plenty others who are simply 'lacking' and so, remain quite comfortable with what they do know. . no matter how bad it is.
