West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin said Friday that "it's highly likely" that he'll run for the late Robert C. Byrd's Senate seat but will make a decision next week.

And arch felon.
Mountaineers are so forgiving.
Love this quote of his:
On April 15, 2006, during an Easter visit to U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq, Manchin generated controversy by posing for photographers while signing two missiles at Balad Air Force Base. One of the messages read, "Sending you to hell, from Almost Heaven, West Virginia." He explained his intentions to the media stating, "I just thought, 'Hey, these are people doing tremendous harm to our people.' I wanted to send them a little message."[5] After receiving several complaints, Manchin issued an apology.
Oh, I know all about him too. My great great grandfather was from “WEST-ern Virgina, before the war between the states. And we have kin. But, he will have to toe the Dem line or bail. The Dems do NOT tolerate free thinking conscience voters. I hope he switches parties after the 2010 election where he is in the minority. THINK about the positive force that would have on WV and America? He would be like a god.
You know the joke that goes:
Picture a TV Commercial, showing Arch Moore sitting in a stately chair, talking about his Daughter running for Congress. He waxes on about the great state and people, and concluded with this: “I’d vote for her, if I could”.
—— But this IS WV thing, others wouldn’t understand how a convicted felon who had tens of thousands of dollars in his office desk drawer and who would just outright tell you the price of the bribe to get what you wanted done, could STILL BE LOVED.

RachelFaith is right. 100% probability that any D going to DC will be a sellout, as about 100% of the D’s in DC *have* sold out.
Let’s talk about the upcoming primary. Here’s a couple of big ifs. If Mollohan who recently lost in the primary to Olivero runs against Manchin ... and wins - yeh I know it won’t happen - would Mollohan retain any of his seniority if he got elected to the Senate after all those years in the House.
Bump for comments.
