I don't know exactly what kind of Afro-Cuban music the troops like. When I get email requests from them they simply say, "Salsa" but I think that "Salsa" is a very generic term because I simply don't know what they'll like or won't like. I think that what they really mean is all of the genres listed below. For that reason, when I buy new CDs or download music I then post the entire CDs or downloads because I don't know which songs they'll like or not.

Do I like everything that I post? Of course not. However, I do have my favorites but I have never posted a list of favorites. Today will be the first installment of my personal favorites. The entire "Favorites" music will span the 1940s through the present day music. They'll include Sones, Boleros, Cha-cha-chas, Rhumbas, Mambos, Guajiras, Pachangas, Salsas, Merengues, Plenas, Timbas, Latin Jazz and probably other genres that I have forgotten. You might find the same song done by different groups. It wasn't difficult to create the lists. The difficult part was to decide which songs by each artist were my favorites. :-)

*El Grans' Friday Evening Salsa for the troops*
