Oakland cops make arrests at verdict protest

An involuntary manslaughter verdict against a white former transit cop who killed an unarmed black man was met with protests that erupted in violence Thursday night in Oakland, Calif.

The trial over the shooting took place in Los Angeles, where prosecutors had pressed for a murder conviction in the New Year's Day 2009 Oakland train-station killing that was recorded on video.

“Violence suddenly erupted after the main crowd dispersed and night began to fall. A Foot Locker store was looted and nearby store windows were smashed before police moved in and began arresting at least a dozen people in the area of 14th and Broadway when demonstrators would not leave after an unlawful assembly was declared mid-evening. Bottles were thrown at police and the windows of a California Highway Patrol car were broken. Protesters also set garbage cans on fire. Some chanted "No justice, No peace."”

“Mayor Ron Dellums early in the evening thanked protesters for keeping their demonstrations peaceful and coming together “in a sense of community and with respect of young Oscar Grant.””

Did you notice how ignorance and violence are celebrated by a dishonest and corrupt politician?

Did you notice how they supposedly came to protest and ended up stealing shoes?

So far, the black protesters were very limited and peaceful.

There were are crowd of about 800 at first. Many people reported that there seemed to be a lot of white UNION workers. (There’s a SEIU office at 14th and Webster)

The police have estimated that the crowd is down to 300-400.
The police estimate there are about 50 anarchists in the group. They are taking them away in buses in vans as they catch them. Most all the violent looters are white.

Obama Union thugs led by young rich spoiled brats who like to watch things burn.

Police knew they were coming, and were prepared. They are dealing with this really well.
