So now its Gov. Michael Moore. Mr. Moore, the intrepid documentarian behind Capitalism: A Love Story and other films, were among the new governors elected to the board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the academy said on Wednesday. Mr. Moore joined the director Kathryn Bigelow and the film editor Anne Coates among those joining the board for the first time.
Others re-elected to positions on the board, whose members serve for three-year terms, were Curt Behlmer, Rosemary Brandenburg, Richard Edlund, Leonard Engelman, Charles Fox, Jim Gianopulos, Hawk Koch, Marvin Levy and Frank Pierson. John Bailey, Ed Begley Jr. and Jon Bloom were also elected to positions, after having taken a hiatus after serving earlier. About one-third of the academys 43 governors stand for election each year.

If I’d cared about the Oscars for one minute in the last 30 years that would really bother me.
Agreed, it is just a bunch of so-so’s kissing each other’s asses.
That’ll make the Oscar Board flip right over.
Unbelieveable, simply unbelievable.
Maybe next year they will pick Charlie Manson and put him on the board, after all he knew a movie star.
Freepers - seriously - this is just another in a long, long line of reasons why you should not spend one thin dime on ANYTHING that comes out of Hollywood.
Don’t go to movies.
At worst, wait 2 months and rent the video.
Otherwise, this is what your money goes to. Please, please bear that in mind before you think you “have” to see that next movie.
As if I needed another reason to ignore these aholes and their silly annual circlejerk.
Oh, he were among the new governors elected, were he? He’s certainly big enough to be more than one!
I haven’t watched the Academy Awards show since Bob Hope was the emcee.
Not Oscar board, smorgasborg. Michael Moore added to smorgasborg. He’s a permanent fixture in the food line.
ROTFLOL
Do they understand how stupid they are?
It shows the Oscars are not about about rewarding achievement in arts and entertainment, but rather a political platform.
That Moore was invited at the same time as Richard Edlund, John Bailey and especially Anne Coates, who have made substantial contributions to filmmaker, is pathetic, but no surprise. I`ve never understood the attraction of Bigelow`s work other than the novelty of a woman who makes violent films, but at least she`s a legit moviemaker; Moore is a documentarian who flatout lies. How does adding him bring anything to the board? Oh, right, he`s a liar for the left, that`s all he needs to be.

That’s it?? Amateur. I..er, I mean my neighbor’s kid downloads every movie by bittorrent and hands them to me.
I`ve never been into boycotting Hollywood. If I kept my money from people and industries I suspected disagreed with my politics and donated to dems, I`d never spend a dime. Life`s too short to be so petty; if I see quality work, I give em my money--that`s what dictates where my money goes. Can`t say there are any conservative entertainers who make much I`m interested in--Chuck Norris hasn`t made anything I`m interested in paying for lately.
Sounds like EVERYONE ELSE in Hollyweird was just too busy to take the job.
