We'll see what John Roberts has to say about that.
:)
“The filing is expected to include declarations from other U.S. agencies saying that the Arizona law would place a undue burden on their ability to enforce immigration laws nationwide, because Arizona police are expected to refer so many illegal immigrants to federal authorities.”
Well, now there is a winning argument, if I’ve ever heard one.
Please allow me to translate:
“We hate this law because it points out how much we have royally sucked in doing our job of securing the border. And we don’t want to deal with the consequences of our amazing suckage.”
Feel free to add your own translations, gang.
Preemption will not work because if the federal government disdains and abrogates its responsibilities to protect its legal citizens from criminals and terrorist infiltration, the federal government argument does not hold water.
Enforce the GD law.
Shameful.
And what exactly is it called with the Federal Government won’t enfore the laws it is claiming preemption authority over?
Sit the Justice Dept down and force them to read and listen to the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and Bill o’ Rights.
Then give them a pop quiz of 100 questions [true-false, best guess, fill in the blank] on same.
If they don’t get 80% of the questions right, they’re fired.
Then give the same test to all new hires.
Problem solved.
ALL Federal Employees should know the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and be able to test in the 80% knowledge rate before being hired AND before receiving any income increase or promotion.
.....The filing is expected to include declarations from other U.S. agencies saying that the Arizona law would place a undue burden on their ability to enforce immigration laws nationwide, because Arizona police are expected to refer so many illegal immigrants to federal authorities...
Ha exactly the opposite will happen and is why they are fighting it. Illegals are leaving Arizona in droves and going elswhere, thus the burden will be smaller in Arizona and greater where there is no local enforcement...What a bunch of liars.
This Justice Department has lost all credibility and become a dangerous tool of leftists.
What I’m seeing, even in my own conservative state, is the federal blackmail of federal assistance is holding states in check. States rights in too many states isn’t even on the radar, and IMHO that is the last stand, the only thing that will wrest power from Washington a place it back in the hands of the people.
Meanwhile the Pinal county sheriff finds himself on the mexican organized crime hit list.
Forget those drug and gun laws, I'd like to see the states try that, then these clowns in the White House would file a reverse lawsuit.
a place it back in the hands of the people.
AND dummy.
Oh, oh, I get it. A government by the government, for the government...yeah, got it. Tail wagging dog.
On F&F this AM they interview an Ariz Sheriff (not Sheriff Joe) that has a contract on him by the Mexican Cartels.
I think the JD has a BIG Problem. The Feds can’t protect the citizens or even the American Law Enforcement from the Mexican Cartels.
Justice Dept Loses.

Your interpretation is the only thing that doesn’t suck, lol.
No need to. You hit the nail on the head. They want the law quashed because it will show their incompetence (or intent to not uphold federal law...).
Here in Michigan the Ann Arbor city council appears to be the first to want to vote on a resolution condemning the arizona law.
There’s a poll with the story showing 74% opposed to the resolution.
It seems the only persons finding the AZ law controversial are liberals and politicians. Oh, and illegals.
