And his opponent, the scumbag Mark Kirk, was one of the tiny handful of House "Republicans" who voted for "Cap and Trade".

The other reason is, Obama is going to run for "his" old Senate seat after he's had his ass handed to him in 2012 (see, I can be optimistic), and the only POTUS to return to elected federal office was John Quincy Adams.
