Can they come and do the same thing to the squirrel population in my backyard? I’d love to see them gassed and chopped up so I can actually eat my own fruit and vegetables.

they are like flying rats all over long island.

I say round them up when they moult and butcher them for the ‘poor’ instead of giving the poor food stamps...

Federal officials said two property owners paid for the round up, gassing and killing of the now-flightless geese and their goslings.

Dumbasses! One hunter and a 12 ga. would have taken care of the problem.

They're going to have the same problem next year and the year after that until geese are allowed to be hunted in heretofore restricted communities..........

What that area needs is comprehensive goose migration reform; perhaps a path to citizenship for the geese who are already there, and a fence along the border to keep more canadians from migrating there...

euthenizing. That means "killing," right?

Why don't they just say that?

A few pair of swans for the lake make a beautiful sight, don’t tear of up lawns and make a mess, but keep the geese away!

I have no problem killing the pesky geese. I saw a tv program recently about springer spaniels who are trained to chase Canada geese to keep this very thing from happening. Our springer would have a field day running around chasing birds — and give a good show, too.

Canada Geese can be mean as hell. Years ago, my wife and her friend were at a pond with several of our kids. There were hundreds (wife estimate, not mine) of geese. The kids were eating graham crackers and the geese decided they wanted crackers as well. The kids screamed as the Geese got aggressive. Sadly for the geese, my wife also had our 200lb mastiff with her. And, upon the shrieks of terror from the children, coupled with the scene of pandemonium of the marauding geese, Maxwell decided to take matters into his own hands, or jaws more precisely.

Moments later after the feathers settled, what could be seen were 13 dead geese, blood everywhere, an out of breath dog, and three toddlers who needed therapy. My wife said it was like seen out of Apocalypse Now.

“Outcry over program of euthanizing Canada geese”

Well they are too difficult to eat when they are still running around.

Western civilization now insists on murdering the successful, feeding the failures, and putting humans in second place to bugs, fish, and flowers.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I just read this story to my Jack Russel Terriers. They are all pumped and want to sign up for goose duty.

Open season in the South in the summer, and open season in the North in the winter — problem solved.

These birds are supposed to migrate.

I read today that during the 18th Century that colonial Americans kept flocks of geese, but NOT for food - they plucked the feathers 2 or 3 times a year, and that in one New England town there were so many loud honking geese everywhere that one couldn’t hear the sermons in church on Sundays.

They’re effing disgusting. I can’t even take my daughter to the North Shore in Pittsburgh because the goose crap is literally EVERYWHERE!!!! I went jogging there last summer & still have goose turds embedded in the tires of my stroller. Disgusting. And the stupid liberal tree huggers sit oo-ing & ahh-ing at them while they feed them so they can load up with more crap. Gross.

Virginia here. Damn things are thick as flies, aggressive and crap everywhere. We could 'euthanize' millions of them and still have too many.

My heart goes out to animals, up to the point where I'm hip-deep in a species that does nothing constructive and makes a problem of itself. We actually have commercial services for scaring them away here.
