Gulf oil spill likely to reach Florida Keys, Miami, report says

Reporting from Washington and New Orleans — Hundreds of skimming boats prepared Friday to return to calmer gulf waters in the wake of Hurricane Alex and resume cleanup of the massive BP oil spill, which scientists now predict is likely to reach the Florida Keys and Miami in the months ahead.

Using computer simulations based on 15 years of wind and ocean current data, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released a report Friday showing a 61% to 80% chance of the oil spill reaching within 20 miles of the coasts of the Florida Keys, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, mostly likely in the form of weathered tar balls.

Shorelines with the greatest chance of being soiled by oil — 81% to 100% — stretch from the Mississippi River Delta to the western Florida Panhandle, NOAA scientists said in a statement on its projections for the next four months.

Other areas of Florida have a low probability of oil hits. The Florida Panhandle has already seen tar balls wash up on beaches.

But the chances of oil reaching east-central Florida and the Eastern Seaboard are less than 1% to 20%, NOAA said. And it is "increasingly unlikely" that areas above North Carolina will be hit.

Meanwhile, officials were moving skimming vessels back to sea and were trying to protect the ecologically sensitive Chandeleur Sound area, said Coast Guard Adm. Paul Zukunft.

"It's going to be a long weekend from an oil spill response perspective," Zukunft said Friday. All skimming boats from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle had been idle for three days because of dangerously high waves.

Officials hoped to move another containment ship above the gushing well by Wednesday to nearly double the 25,000 barrels of oil being recovered daily.

BP is scamming us. Obama has been paid off I bet. They are stalling on paying claims and will probably bankrupt leaving everyone hanging. tHE SO CALLED 20 BILLION FUND IS NOT EVEN IN WRITING. Do not forget BP is the “green’ oil company and in bed with the international socialist cabal.

NOAA tried to close us down to fishing(I am in the Keys) three weeks ago.
When we challenged their data they not only did not close us down but reopened 123 miles of previously closed down territory.
What is actually going on now is the Loop Current has formed an unusual eddy that literally makes a circle within the Gulf waters that recirculates oil laden water witin the gulf and I would guess is slowly dissipating the crude.

They don't want to admit this and hide the data well within their stuff but I found it.
NOAA has always wanted to shut the keys down to humans they only care about critters and Marxism.

In addition they know the spill will end in a few weeks and are trying to get all they can get out of the end of this crisis.

What they are hiding is here. It's about half way down the page.

My prediction:

If you want to see a shootout at the O-K Corral, keep your eyes on the Keys.

See how much they put up with the antics of the Coast Guard and BP.

Wish I knew how to post a “popcorn” graphic.

LOL

As I was watching the news this morning, I was trying to figure out why, with oil hitting the beaches in northwest Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, the news seems to be THE OIL IS GOING TO HIT MIAMI AND KEY WEST! Is the ecology more fragile or the places more important than the northern gulf coast? Sorry, just a pet peeve I just developed.

Yes, the Gulf Coast is just a backwater full of rednecks and stupid conservatives.

South Florida is however the only Northern, liberal, state located in the South.

So bet on it, a tar ball hits Key West and the Central Gulf Coast can wave good bye to the limited response we have now.

Better wave quick however because they will be out of sight before we can make it to the shoreline.

If I lived on the coast, I’d be more concerned by what I’m inhaling than what’s washing up on the beaches. You don’t need to see tar balls to be inhaling that sh*t they’re using as a dispersant.

That dispersant is scary stuff, IMO. I have a friend, whose son (11) is a completely indoctrinated envir-whacko at his ripe old age. She was going to take him down to La. to clean the birds. I told her, “you are crazy to let your son anywhere near the chemicals they are using”. She listened and never went.

I have heard on Fox news several times that they are using Dawn dish washing liquid to clean the birds.

First, you will have to use HTML throughout your post.

I.E. You will have to put a left caret ‘<’ then a ‘P’ for paragraph, then a right caret ‘>’ after each paragraph or line.

Then, go to the graphic, right click and pick COPY IMAGE LOCATION.

Then, go back to your post and put

Left Caret IMG SRC=”
After the “ do a right click and pick PASTE
After that put another “ and then the Right Caret.

BTW, it looks like BP shut all operations down so they could let their workers go home early for the FOURTH. The cams were pretty busy up until 1pm.
