Thanks! Coming from Colorado (from the East) by car. Will probably see the crater.
We are kind of going out of our way, but we want to support Arizona. Any recommendations east and northeast Arizona?
If you're up to the trip, the chocolate falls along the Little Colorado River are an amazing sight! Right about now, as the monsoon rains hit northern Arizona, the Little Colorado River runs dark brown with runoff from normally dry streams. At the falls, the water actually looks like chocolate milk. Lemme see if I can find a link...
Here you go! This link also links to dozens of places to go and see some of the amazing natural beauty of our great state, as well as some man-made treats you'll enjoy.
Canyon de Chelly is a nice side trip http://www.bing.com/reference/semhtml/?title=Canyon_de_Chelly_National_Monument&src=mtoc&qpvt=canyon+de+chelly&q=canyon+de+chelly&fwd=1 .
TONS. East Northeast: Painted Desert, Petrified Forest. Northeast: Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Paria Wilderness, Lake Powell. Great trout fishing at the Vermillion Cliffs. North Rim / Kaibab into Bryce & Zions.
