Fox News Poll: Secure the Border First (but Obama has no plans to do such a thing)

A majority of American voters think the federal government should secure the country’s borders first, before Congress works on new immigration legislation.

The Obama administration wants comprehensive immigration overhaul to come first, while Republican leaders are pushing for improved border security as the top priority. A Fox News poll released Friday asked American voters what should happen first: 59 percent think the government should secure the border first, while 30 percent think the priority should be new legislation.

Large numbers of Republicans (72 percent) and independents (65 percent) support securing the border first. Views are fairly evenly split among Democrats, with a slim plurality putting border security (44 percent) before Congressional action (41 percent).

I’ll say this again. Close the borders, put out an order to start rounding up the illegals and I would bet that a large majority will leave on their own.

Amnesty for 20 million illegals is only way to bring down unemployment. (sarc)

These jerks (BO & Co.) also have no plans for:
— job creation
— oil spills
— drug wars
— afganistan
— N. Korea
— Iran
— energy policy
— medical care improvements
— excess spending
— bloated federal government

What ever happened to the “laser-like focus” concept?

Worst president and administration in history of this country.

Fred Grandy on WMAL in DC this morning said something like this about Mr. Obama’s speech yesterday: “It’s like saying you can’t enact new criminal laws until you first re-write the US Code dealing with all criminal acts.”

Fred’s correct.

To say that immigration reform is being held up because the Republicans won’t go along with Comprehensive Immigration Reform first, is like saying that wet streets make it rain.

Nonsense. Just nonsense.

obama told senator Kyle that he was not going to do anything about border security unless he can get enough votes to pass amnesty. If they get amnesty, the rats will never do anything to secure the border because they would have gotten their wish. 30 million new dimrat voters.

Obama can do whatever he wants because the mainstreams don’t publish it.

Try asking some clueless friends or relatives about current events. I do this all the time, and I’ve learned that many people don’t even know what’s going on.

My sister-in-law, for example, watches NBC evening news.

Most people will learn about Al Gore and his sex-masseuse problem by reading the tabloids at the supermarket.

The federal government is not going to solve this problem. Arizona has the right idea and is leading the way ... and by “the way” I mean “states’ rights”. It will be the ONLY good thing the undocumented Muslim will have contributed to this country .... the reemergence of states’ rights in many areas of government.

Kyl’s Curse will doom this lame effort by Obama to somehow make this seem like a GOP failure. We all know he refuses to secure the border until he gets GOP support for amnesty. Ain’t gonna fly now that the cat’s out of the bag.

What ever happened to the “laser-like focus” concept?

He is still on target to destroy, disembowel, dismember America with unwavering determination and laser like focus.

Every arena he enters into has the same objective to dhiminish and or marginalize America.
The Gulf? Higher food costs, higher energy costs, drilling moratoriums, epa, poisoned real estate, destruction of tourism and fishing and a enduring catastrophe...all that in one example!
The economy? The border security and sovereignty?...on and on

This notion of ‘secure the border first than impliment comprehensive immigration reform(AMNESTY) is total BS! There are approximately 40 million third world illegals here. I won’t begin to state the problems associated with this influx of illegals. Amnesty would allow them to bring in their ‘relative’, that means add another 100 million. I say secure the border and take away the jobs, social services, anchor baby law, and start deportation.

Totally agree - there should be no FIRST !!! Secure the borders - then tackle the problem of getting the illegals back across that secure border. Give them 60 days free passage without legal involvement — let them head south themselves - then cut off ALL benefits - healthcare, in-state tuition assistance, etc. Fine and INCARCERATE those found to hire undocumenteds. Dry up the fountain and they will go drink elsewhere! Yes, stop the madness of anchor babies!! No sane country would allow this!
Allow for legal immigration as necessary for the benefit of the US - not to serve as a spigot for US funds to flow to third world countries.
The riches of Mexico are enormous - let them rid themselves of corrupt government/drug lords etc. and exit third/fourth world status.

Put the military in charge. Ike had it right.

Burgeoning numbers of illegal Mexican immigrants prompted President Dwight D. Eisenhower to appoint his longtime friends, John Cox and General Joseph Swing, as INS Commissioner. According to Attorney General Herbert Brownell, Jr., Eisenhower had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration upon taking office. In a letter to Sen. J. William Fulbright, Eisenhower quoted a report in The New York Times that said, “The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican “wetbacks” (rooted from the watery route taken by the Mexican immigrants across the Rio Grande) to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government.”[2]

The operation was modeled after a program that came to be termed the Mexican Repatriation, which put pressure on citizens of Mexico to return home during the Great Depression, due to the economic crisis in the United States.

[edit] Operation Wetback in action
The effort began in California and Arizona, and coordinated 1075 Border Patrol agents, along with state and local police agencies, to mount an aggressive crackdown. Tactics employed included going as far as systematic police sweeps of Mexican-American neighborhoods, and random stops and ID checks of “Mexican-looking” people in a region with many Native Americans and native Hispanics. In some cases, illegal immigrants were deported along with their American-born minor dependent children. This occurred despite the fact the children were, according to the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the 14th amendment, citizens of the United States. Some 750 agents targeted agricultural areas with a goal of 1000 apprehensions per day. By the end of July, over 50,000 immigrants were caught in the two states. An estimated 488,000 illegal immigrants are claimed to have left voluntarily, for fear of being apprehended. By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and the INS estimates that 500,000 to 700,000 had left Texas of their own accord. To discourage illicit re-entry, buses and trains took many deportees deep within Mexican territory, prior to releasing them. Tens of thousands more were deported by two chartered ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried them from Port Isabel, Texas, to Veracruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles (800 kilometers) to the south. Some were taken as far as 1,000 miles. Deportation by sea was ended after seven deportees jumped overboard from the Mercurio and drowned, provoking a mutiny which led to a public outcry in Mexico.[3]

It’s way past time for a fence. 50 caliber machine guns spaced every 100 yards, roving patrols, and air support. Shoot anybody that steps over the border. I’m sick of this lame response from our worthless, braindead moronic federal “leadership”.

GET THESE PEOPLE OUT OF MY COUNTRY!!
