Or I could point out clearly, that the allegedly “American” retailer Wally World, isn’t very American at all.

I choose to point out clearly, that the allegedly “American” retailer Wally World, isn’t very American at all.

You go ahead and whine, importboi.

I haven’t bought a cooler yet, the ones I saw at Wal-Mart were made by Thermos, and Coleman.

That took me by surprise: I thought that Coleman was only now a brandname for Jarden and that all of the manufacturing had gone offshore, but it does appear that the classic Coleman cooler is still made in the U.S.A.:

From the Wal-Mart website at http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-54-Quart-Steel-Belted-Cooler-Red/4528997:

Size: 54 qt.
Model No.: 6154A703
Shipping Weight (in pounds): 20.25
Product in Inches (L x W x H): 25.5 x 17.75 x 17.25
Assembled in Country of Origin: USA
Origin of Components: USA
Wal-Mart No.: 000988057

Have you even been in a Walmart recently?

I was, last week. In the camping section.

Saw NOTHING which was not imported from China.

Not one thing.

So your rant is based on what you counted, no real facts? Well that explains a lot.

I tried a Walmart last week.

Got fed up with the imported camping gear section, though I did buy a can of oil.

That may have been actually made in USA, though it’s in my car right now and I can’t read it.

Didn’t buy any of the imported camping gear. No sale.

I don't buy Chinese crap from Wal-Mart, either. But I will probably stop and buy a cooler there tomorrow.

\ What I don't understand is, why you think you're some sort of friggin' hero for not buying Chinese, when nearly everyone around you (here) is doing the same damn thing.

First hand observation is not facts?

That would be an anecdote. If you get some real facts, let me know.

If I deign to bother with you.

Sheesh. What an arrogant, sanctimonious bunch the “free traders” are.

Buy American.

Just because yo-yos like the above, want you to buy imported stuff from them.

So they don’t have to work.

My US mfg of raw products that we use to create ours has lost 80% of their business. That 80% was Walmart. Of 250 people they are down to 40. All of it went to a Chinese company. But my main point is that 10% of what we do is made in China simply because no US companies make the product anymore. Can’t compete with a country that can produce at 1/10th the price. Anyway the Chinese companies now leave these items blank as to where they are made. We don’t but if we wanted to we could put Made in USA on every bit of it.

As an aside I tried years ago to teach my raw products mfg how to beat the Chinese or any cheap labor country but obviously it fell on deaf ears. We are growing at 70% this year while they fell 80% and we esentially do the same thing. So many of your points are valid because it’s not Walmarts fault that they can buy the exact same thing in China for 1/10th. Our job in America is to make things the Chinese cannot. Quality.

Don't forget the $50 head of lettuce...and the continuing high price of Nikes.

Not to mention the in-sourcing of car manufacturing by Japanese and German automakers.

Nice try, though.

Cheers!

The standard PR spin of the “free trade uber alles!” folks is wearing rather thin. Walmart bought this hook line and sinker. And now, with American wages and household incomes stagnating and falling, Walmart is having to cut prices to make sure they can still sell the imported Chinese crap.

Look who agrees with you!

Cheers!
