I just watched the video from yesterday of Obama addressing the comment John Boehner made about the 'ant' and right as Obama mentions Boehner's name, he rubbed his eyebrow with his middle finger.

We have seen him do this, what, 4 times so far, when he's CAMPAIGNING and mentioning Republicans?

let’s face it, the mental age of the American public is sinking ever lower.

Perhaps it's an issue of "mental age" but all too often I see "snotty retorts" substituted for honest debate. Sadly this happens on both sides of the aisle and from time to time right here on FR too. It's an easy trap to fall into and regretfully I've done it myself from time to time. Sometimes it's better NOT to have the last word if the last word is only the posting equivalent of flipping the bird.

It certainly does happen here and, according to my reading of the site rules, it is not permitted to berate and insult other posters. But it happens, probably because people have become so de-sensitized to it.

But smart-alec remarks are no substitute for reasoned debate and really are not worth the waste of bandwidth.
