Moms, don’t let your sons grow up to be smokers.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
By the way, even if you suddenly believe in Him now, no, He didn't do this to you.
He came to one of our FreeRepublic events years ago. I think he enjoyed his visit with us and I know we enjoyed having him with us. He’s very nice in person. He doesn’t share all of our beliefs, but he recognized the dishonesty in President Clinton and gave a very patriotic speech in Lafayette Park.
May God heal him and draw him close, even to saving grace.
As one preacher said, you don’t need Jesus just because you might die tomorrow, you need Him because it’s almost certain you’ll live through tomorrow...and the next day, and the next day...
I’ve always liked ol’ Hitch, regardless. Many prayers his way. Get better, dude!
Esophageal cancer is deadly, if not caught insitu. This was not early stage esophageal carcinoma. Chemotherapy is not going to be efficacious. He apparently is not a candidate for resection and colonic interposition proceedure. I hope Mr. Hitchens will reconsider his spiritual perspectives, but I fear pride will win the day with him.
As one who is dealing with Prostate cancer I can sympathize with him. God speed.
Although I do not agree with a lot of what this man says, I do not wish him harm. I am praying that God uses this time as a wakeup call to him and that through this he will come to know the true creator. I pray for his healing - body, heart and soul. What an awesome testimony he would be to the world of the grace and love of God who NEVER let him go.
Pray for his conversion.
Hopeful prayers lifted for Mr. Hitchens recovery, and conversion, as well as for all the fine FReepers on this wondrous thread.
God bless,
Tatt
Well... Hell??? Christopher??
I wonder why they go out of their way to mention smoking, when it is probably more likely that Hitch’s fondness for spirits is responsible, if anything, for this cancer?
Eerily, the preface for his recent memoir begins with an anecdote of how he found himself described in an art gallery exposition brochure as “the late Christopher Hitchens” in a photo of the exhibition’s subject, his friend Martin Amis.
We should pray that he gets health care better than what the UK has to offer. From what we’ve seen, he’s pretty much a dead man if he has to turn to the NHS for treatment.
