Well, from other actions and statements it seems clear that Gore is a jerk.

We are in total agreement on this part... Gore is a jerk. But he's also a long time politician who knows the liberal/feminist position on "no"... probably better than most NOW members. So it's curious. I'm not so much giving a judgement on this issue as wanting to have questions answered... or at least asked.

While I agree that Gore is likely to know the feminist position he's also a politician and a democrat one at that, which means he's accustomed to preferential, almost royal treatment and almost certainly expects it. No is something said to others, not one of the elite.
