Not really the case. Even some of the strictest Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Kuwait have lots of high-fashion shops that do well. That's because the women tend to dress very stylishly underneath their chadoors or various coverings. They have parties with only other women present and the coverings come off, allowing them to display the clothing, hairstyles and jewelry. I hear it can get quite competitive. :)
I still think the summers in the Middle East are far hot for all of those clothes, though.
I still have to chuckle that on bad hair days they can be advantageous to old ladies...:O)
