Questionable Candidate Alvin Greene Under Investigation (cheer for black success, just not for him)

Questionable Candidate Alvin Greene Under Investigation
By Boyce Watkins, PhD on Jun 29th 2010 11:46AM

Thank goodness. The 5th Circuit Solicitor General's office is investigating U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene and his finances to determine if any laws were broken on his way to stardom. In case you didn't know, Greene is the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate out of South Carolina who mysteriously found his way into the national spotlight, even though every interview he's done proves that he was being manipulated by someone else.

Greene doesn't appear to have even average intelligence, and I'm not sure if an unemployed man with a pending felony who lives with his parents can afford the $10,400 filing fee to participate in an election for which he doesn't seem to have campaigned. In other words, Greene is the great joke of the 2010 midterm election cycle, and I while I am inclined to cheer for black success, I cannot cheer for him.

**SNIP**

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford signed a new law last week requiring banks to turn over information about account holders in cases where they are suspected of financial wrongdoing. In Greene's case, there is a need to investigate the inconsistency between the facts that he couldn't afford an attorney for his pending felony, yet he came up with $10,400 to run for an election.

Isn't that racist? And why aren't Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on that list?

I always thought the wording was...”if you do not have an attorney OR cannot afford one...then the state will provide one”.

I don’t remember there being a deal where you had to confess to being broke...in order to get free legal counsel...or am I wrong on this?

Someone needs to be investigating the Democrat voters of South Carolina to really determine why Greene won.

Yes. It’s paternalistic condescension. It’s the most pernicious racism around today.

Yes, because how could a young African-American man with strange origins, suspicious funding, shady associations, no experience, no qualifications, and no demonstrable work history come out of nowhere and win an election?

I understand that it is very likely that he saved the money from his military service, and was planning to use it to pay the ‘entry fee’.

THEN, this case mysteriously appeared, and he needed an attorney.

The MEDIA tries to make it appear as if this felony was pending way before he filed to run for office.

AFAIK, the ‘charges’ came after.

He could have saved more than $10,000 from his army pay. He obviously does not spend a lot of money. Look at his lifestyle.

The guy may well be no worse than the typcial member of the House. Might even be a significant improvement in many cases...

I always believed the full story of this modern day Don Quixote would be the origin of the filing fee.

It could have been from his frugal parents, his military savings, a lotto ticket, a group of friends & neighbors or someone who thought it was a privilege to participate in the voting process.

However the idea was conceived - it has rocked the Democrat Party!!!

Since when are Democrats concerned about the source of campaign funds. The filing fee was only $10,400. Democrats drink this much from illegal and immoral sources every day.

Really? By whom? Jesse Jackson? Sharpton? Rahm Emanuel? Soros? The Duke lacrosse team? Underdog?

I agree. He runs rings around the current members of the Congressional Black Caucus. And he certainly seems more intelligent then many Democrat senators such as Franken, Murray, Boxer and Schumer.

So...let me get this straight. When I didn’t want to vote for Zero the Wonder Prez on the grounds that he was an incompetent Marxist, not to mention a boob, I was a RAAAAAACIST. If Democrats are urged NOT to vote for another incompetent boob, who may or may not be a Marxist, it’s perfectly fine.

That dictionary just keeps changing.

Hey, if they found out he drowned a woman like Teddy, condoned credit card fraudulent like Schumer, committed adultery like John, and has ever housed a male prostitute operation like Barney, then he’s home free. If he’s paid to cover up his past like Obama, so much the better.

Except he is running for the US Senate. His opponent in November will be Jim DeMint.

As the Sargeant told Forest Gump “a genius” in boot camp, Greene is a genius compared to 99% of the congressmen.

I suppose it helps to be the first mainstream African-American who is clean and articulate and bright.

I think we should investigate everyone that runs for the house and senate, maybe we wouldn't have so many crooks and sexual deviates in office. This also should be true for the president and vice president. If I have to have a background check just to get into the military then these slugs should too.
