Maybe the best answer is White with a solidly Republican state house, and have some gridlock until the GOP gets a better gubernatorial candidate.

The Texas House could be a problem as it’s GOP now at 77-73. However the Texas Senate is strongly GOP at 19 - 11 so if they hold the line they could act as the mediator.

As I recall, it’s the Lt. governor in Texas who holds the real power. Maybe that’s who we need to be worrying about.
