Arizona Sen. John McCains re-election campaign has gained an important endorsement from an influential conservative publication, National Review.
This magazine has not always agreed with Sen. John McCains judgments, the endorsement on National Reviews website notes. But there are three considerations that militate against dumping McCain for his primary challenger, former congressman J.D. Hayworth.
The first is that McCain has consistently voted on the conservative side on important issues he has never supported a broad-based tax hike, voted for every conservative Supreme Court nominee, and has a long pro-life record.
Second, McCain has unmatched credibility on national security and demonstrated his leadership by encouraging the surge of American forces in Iraq.
Third, McCain has a better record than Hayworth on controlling federal spending. Hayworth in fact appeared in infomercials telling people how to get free money from the government, according to National Review, which concludes:

Please take my name off you ping list.
I’m not interested in your La Raza propaganda.
Not just that. It also gets national attention because McCain has undermined his party on so many issues, and has delighted in doing it. One explanation for the poor showing of Republicans in 2006 and 2008 is the significant number who stayed home because of many second term Bush/Rove initiatives, including amnesty, which is strongly associated with McCain, as it should be.
There are millions of conservatives and others around this nation that do not like John McCain or the policies he's pushed over the past decade. I know several Republicans far from Arizona who despise the character, and with good reason.
You’re not on any ping list.
Sorry, donna. I thought you were talking about Mecham. My bad.
Honestly? I don’t know.
Pure nonsense and wishful thinking on your part. The vote is still almost two months away. Two debates July 16 and 17, and JD will begin responding to McCain's lies and distortions frequently on TV very soon.
I voted for Salmon and the other Republican candidate who I can’t remember the name against Napolitano because I am a Republican.
Instead all I get it insults around here.
Neither Salmon or the other guy were attractive candidates. That is the failure of the Republican party in AZ.
Salmon was a mobster. There were dealings in his PROJECT SLIM that were very questionable.
I think the local arm of the DC elites did the same thing to Mecham. I feel bad about what happened to him as I look back.
J/K!
Are you from AZ? Those two issues along with the loudmouth know it all attitude is a huge turn off.
Oops I meant Symington instead of Salmon.
All they have to do is look at my tagline and figure it out.
Sabe was the queen’s decoy in SW:TPM and played by Keira Knightly; one of my fav actresses.
I can't recall the name either, but he was a Dem.
Neither Salmon or the other guy were attractive candidates.
Salmon was an attractive candidate, he did a very good job in the House of Representatives, and quit after three terms, as promised (we cared about term limits back then. Jeff Flake, by the way, lied about term limiting himself)
Salmon was a mobster. There were dealings in his PROJECT SLIM that were very questionable.
You apparently have inside info on SLIM, so I can't speak to that. But you voted for him?
I have his book. Got it autographed before he cashed out.
That's what I thought....we're all twisty-fingers tonight, aren't we?
;^)
I've said often in these threads that I am not from Arizona. This race has been as close as 5% until McCain started his TV blitz of lies and distortions. Once he's answered in two debates and many TV ads, then you will have a better gauge of how it's going once it's a two-way debate, and not just an old bought and paid for politician spending his millions of dollars of long past collected legal bribes on continuous radio and TV ads.
I don’t know what SW/TPM means. Southwest teenage punk-midgets?
Hayworth took the pledge for term limits too but felt it would better serve AZ if he ran instead like Flake.
I guess I should have accepted that high paying job in the Symington admin I might still have a job but turned it down cuz there were dirty stuff involving him and project slim.
Symington was being investigated because of who he awarded the contract too for project slim and there was questions as to whether or not there procurement rules/laws broke.
Unfortunately, before the court could get to the investigation it turned out all the prinicipal players involved for mysteriously killed or murdered or died an accidental death.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Ooops, sorry. Just figured it out. Star Wars...lol...
