Hell, he was soviet intelligence.
He should have been tried for treason.
The term “active measures” was mentioned by Yuri Bezmenov in his now famous interview on Soviet subversion of the western media.

Cronkite must be wiped from our history as a communist collaborator in my opinion. His blasphemous nightly screaming that we were “Losing the Vietnam war” by killing poor viet cong was a moment of marxist victory in American media.. Our Military WON the war!! It was the DEMOCRAT cut off of funding the South AFTER WE LEFT!!! that “lost the war” and handed the South to the communist North. The war was over!!— We got our POWs and pulled out all but 5000 troops!! This all happened after we bombed the little commies until they were forced to surrender and sign the Paris Peace accords!! THE DEMOCRATS CUT OFF THE FUNDING TO THE SOUTH AFTER WE LEFT!!!!! Cronkite was a TRAITOR!!
“Cronkite Targeted by Soviet Intelligence”
He always struck me as being blessedly free of the ravages of any sort of intelligence...
Doggone it. Isn't the author old enough to remember seeing Cronkite's "news"casts?
Cronkite, once known as the North Vietnamese Communists' most trusted man in television news
Gen. Giap described the American media as his most important guerrilla.
Laugh while you can you scumbags, its going to be the 1950's all over again.
I wonder what happened to this plan? I see Salisbury and Moyers are mentioned as well as possible “delegates”.
Yesterday: Soviets using personalities in the media.
Today: Muslims using personalities in the media.
The enemy within is alive and well.
AIM is a reliable & trustworthy site. I believe Cliff.
Cronkite’s first encounter with Soviet KGB operatives would have been in Moscow during the late 1940’s when Cronkite worked there as a reporter for the United Press.
“At Columbia University in 1983, a young Barack Obama wrote sympathetically about groups involved in the nuclear freeze campaign and the dangers of militarism and expressed the hope for total disarmament. As President, he is pursuing the goal of a world free of nuclear weapons, which many experts say is unverifiable, and just signed a new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with Russia that he wants ratified by the U.S Senate. Obama is opposed to modernization of the U.S. nuclear deterrent.”
How did they get copies of the Columbia paper?
Useful Idiot Ping!
Was this not the same effort that recruited Ted Kennedy to launch a PR effort on behalf of the USSR against Reagan’s foreign policy?
