Kobach, Tiahrt win big in Olathe Straw Poll Olathe Republicans endured the humidity Saturday to come out and meet candidates for this fall's elections.
The picnic is a tradition in Olathe, a conservative bastion that often provides a reflection of what the GOP base is thinking.
In between hot dogs, candidate stump speeches and a Patrick Henry impersonator, the 800 or so Republicans who braved the heat (a record, by the way) cast ballots in a straw poll that rewarded conservative candidates.
Todd Tiahrt won big over Jerry Moran in the U.S. Senate straw poll. Kris Kobach easily dispatched his more moderate opponent, Libby Ensley. And Kevin Yoder pushed past Patricia Lightner to claim victory in the 3rd District Congressional straw poll.
And for president in 2012? Sarah Palin all the way.
Picnic goers also got to participate in the very creative "Chicago-style ACORN poll" in which attendees could pay to vote as many times as they wanted (get it, Chicago-style ACORN poll?). Proceeds went to the local party.
Here are all the results: Here are all the results:

I guess its over for Moran. Todd came back to KS to whip him good.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, as least not for the time being.

"A poll conducted for KWCH.."
and
"..Of the registered voters, 721 were likely to vote in Republican primary and 364 said they would like vote in the Democratic primary."
All the straw poll means is that more Tiahrt supporters were willing to spring for $2 so they could vote for him than Moran supporters. Considering it was in the low 90's with a heat index over 100 then one might also conclude that the Moran supporters were smart enough to stay home in the air conditioning.
Kansas has a closed primary. Only the respondents who were registered Republicans could vote for Moran or Tiahrt.
ROTFLMAO! Keep telling yourself that.
My point was that it appears 364 people {at a minimum} were factored in that should not have been included.
Probably not. The Democrats are running candidates for all the major offices as well. I didn't see the poll but just because the blog reported only the Tiahrt-Moran results doesn't mean that there weren't other results for other offices for both parties.
Both Sarah, Karl Rove and Tiahrt have said Jerry’s not one of us. Who do you believe?
The only Sebelius worth any fame was the Finnish composer.
Both Sarah and Karl Rove have said that John McCain and Carly Fiorina are one of us. I think I'll follow my own opinions on this one.
